My husband and I leave for Disney World on August 14, 2008 and we are staying at Pop Century. This is our very first trip to disney (and plane ride which i'm freaking out about.. but anyway) I'm wondering if there are things for first timers that shouldn't be missed. Also we are on a budget of 900.00 for 5 days that is for food and souvenirs.... can it be done??

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and tips! :cool1:

Welcome to the dis!

we took our first trip last year. we had a budget of $1000 for the 8 days we were there and that was more than enough for our family of 4 including food and souvies...have fun!

Do you like roller coasters? If you do, ride Expedition Everest. Most rides are fun. Just remember to arrive early! :)

:welcome: :disrocks:

Your budget should be more than enough for the both of you to have a magical time! We love Splash Mountain and Illuminations at Epcot is a must do for us, we try to see it twice each trip! :wizard:

Welcome!!! Don't miss the evening parade and Wishes at Magic Kingdom:) Enjoy every moment of this magical place....take lots of pictures and try to keep a journal so that when you return home you will remember what you did when:)

Pop Century is great! I think you will do fine on your budget too. :)

A favorite thing we like to do is walk around the Boardwalk area and enter Epcot at the back entrance. There's always something happening on the Boardwalk so it's fun to go there at night. Also, our very favorite ride is the new Toy Story at Hollywood Studios.

The best thing for a budget is free water. Any counter service restaurant will give you a free cup of ice water. Make sure you say "cup of ice water" or you may get a bottled water (which you will be charge for). Some places give you a 20 oz. cup and others just a 12 oz cup. I carried the little containers of lemonade mix that are for bottled water and added that to my "free water". Voila! It is now free lemonade. I am not a big water drinker, but when you are in Florida in the summer, it is necessary to drink as many liquids as possible. Have fun with your first trip! We just returned and had a blast.
