Bragging on my wife

Here's the backstory. We're friends with a missionary family who have been helping an 11-year-old girl from Cambodia. She had giant tumors on her back, so this family arranged for her to be flown here to Denver, where she's gotten medical care and surgeries for the last 18 months. They've finally completed the procedures -- after several setbacks, she's finally clear and is flying home today. The mom of the family we're friends with is going with them to Cambodia -- the girl's mother died a few years ago, and she and her father have been here since the treatment began.

We heard they had to fly to LA, and off the cuff we heard they were going to Disneyland today.

So this morning, my wife heard about that and asked me if we could forgo our Christmas presents to each other this year to do something nice for them. So we scrambled this morning, and arranged for them to have a VIP tour at DLR. Wasn't cheap, but the kid's been through a lot and it seemed like a good way to share some of the blessings we've had.

There's no where else on the planet that would care, but I thought I would brag about her here, because I'm proud of her for having the idea, and for going through the efforts to make it happen. And to the folks at DLR, too, because they had to dig up a tour guide pretty quick.

So just thought I'd share.

That is awesome!!

I am sure that tour will give her and her dad memories to last a lifetime!

You and your wife are amazing people!

Thanks for sharing.

This brought tears to my eyes! You and you're wife are truly generous!!

just the update -- There were all sorts of logistic issues -- I had to figure out when they were landing, and then call my friend to find out whether they were going straight to Disney. We agreed on a noon start. But they got caught in a traffic jam on the way there, but Disney delayed their start so they didn't lose any of the time we were paying for. We didn't hear much form them today, other than a quick message that they were having fun and their guide was great, and a picture of the girl and our friend riding Dumbo.

But it felt nice. Thanks for all the kind words.

This was really a nice thing for you and your wife to make happen for the young girl. I'm sure she'll always remember this.

This makes my heart happy to hear of such thoughtfulness! What a special gesture and memories for that little girl. Thank your wife and let her know that she has the true spirit o fChristmas! pixiedust: Here is some pixi dust to make your Holiday magical!
