First off...several disclaimers:

1. I'm a fan of some country music...I actually like most genre's of music, if it's done well.

2. I actually like a lot of Brad Paisley's music lyrically.
2a. He should have only released the Andy Griffith version of "Waitin' on a Woman".

3. I have absolutely no experience playing a guitar, or any musical instrument.

4. I acknowledge that Brad Paisley is regarded as one of the more talented guitarist' in country music today.

5. I'm sure there will be lots of folks who will disagree with everything I'm about to say.

6. and finally.....No, I have not been drinking too much coffee or Red Bull, and my drawers are not in a wad, and nobody has stolen my ball...and I don't need to "chill" or any other thing of this ilk...so don't tell me to lighten up...now there!

All that being said, almost every one of his songs consists of his incessant guitar picking in the background...don't know if it is just the "tone" of his guitar, because it always sounds the same...but it just gets annoying...almost every song has an obligatory guitar solo, apparently just to prove he can play, and they all sound the same...kind of like Van Halen back in the day...deedledeedeedledeedeedeeedledeeedledee.....(the preceding was a snippet of BP's guitar playing)

Once you're aware of it...it's all you hear during his songs...

P.S. Why is is that practically ALL male country singers have to wear cowboy hats while they sing...they're not out in the weather roping cattle? popcorn::

Because it makes them look oh so freaking hot ! And most of them are going bald!

If you'd ever been on stage, you'd know why....they shade their eyes from the brutal lighting! I'm not a guy, but I wore cowboy hats on stage for the same reason! It also helps with the heat from the lighting....:confused3

And I love Brad Paisley, and his guitar playing, so I have to disagree with your assessment, OP! However, you're entitiled to your opinion!:thumbsup2

it's because he was a guitar player before he was a singer. he loves the guitar more than anything on stage. He enjoys playing the guitar and many of his fans enjoy the guitar solos.

Ever seen him in real life? you'd hate it lol he plays A LOT of guitar and he plays about 7 different ones lol that's the main reason my step dad wants to see him in concert is because of the guitar playing lol.

so different strokes for different folks but it seems more people enjoy the guitar solos then people who don't so he keeps doing what works for him :)

Too funny, the sounds you dislike are the sounds I love most.. that certain twang is:love: The guitar sound is called "chicken pickin" or something like that, Jim Croce used to do it bunches too, way more than Brad Paisley and I loved it when he did it too, "Rapid Roy" is my fav. I'm up from the northeast and have never really been in a place where guys wore those hats but I do think they look smooth.

I love "Welcome to the future" & "Celebrity"

Not a country fan nor did I see the award show last night however I love music and guitar, drum, or whatever musical talent you possess.

If you go see a Eric Clapton show you are guaranteed to see some soloing. He loves his R&B.

I haven't kept up with much of the newer country music, but Brad Paisley is one heck of a picker. The tone you hear is that typical Fender Telecaster sound you can hear in a lot of country music, so you probably notice it more because Paisley plays so much.

I played a lot of country music in New York back in the "Urban Cowboy" era and here in Florida, country music is still very much alive so I still mix it in with jazz and standards. Like other instruments, when you have a good picker/player, you flaunt it. It's only natural. As for the current offerings in country music, Paisley is one I like. Most of the male singers and a lot of the female singers today leave a lot to be desired. One Nashville transplant I have played with told me Nashville is full of great musicians backing lousy singers. From what I hear on the radio, that's true. Too many of the guys sing like they have a stick up their butt. Brad Paisley is an exception, so I'll listen to him pick away.

I love Brad Paisley, so I guess I can't say he's annoying when he play his guitar

Have to agree with you to a certain extent. I like his early stuff a lot better than the more recent songs. He started going downhill for me with the song "Alcohol."

My husband is a musician and used to really like Paisley's guitar solos. Not so much anymore because they've all started to sound the same.

I saw Keith Urban in concert years ago and it seemed like half the concert was him playing banjo! But the man sure could play, so it was cool.

He has many more hits now, so when I see him this summer it will be interesting to see how many solos he shares with us!
