Hey guys, well Im getting braces this summer and im really nervouse.:confused3 I just wanted to know what the process was. also any tricks to make braces enjoyable as possible? Thanks!:)

My suggestion would be to buy floss with a hard tip rather than using the loop they give you. It makes o so much easier. TAKE ADVIL on the day you get them, it will hurt because of the tightness, so plan to eat something with little or no chewing involved, and remember to stay calm, it's gonna be fine.:)

Braces are a simple process for most people. Seeing as you will most likely just have regular braces, and not all the pulling and yanking I had, they will simply put some special fast drying glue on your teeth, stick brackets on them, and bend a wire to shape your mouth. It's very simple, but your teeth will be sore from shifting, so take a pain med, and eat something like soup or mashed potatoes that day.

The process is very simple. They will clean off your teeth. Then they will put little dots of glue on your teeth to stick on the brackets. Once all of the brackets are on, they string a wire throught them. Oh I forgot, the places where they put the spacers in, they will put round things on your teeth to hook onto the wire. It is no big deal. I have had braces, and a ton of extra stuff. It is no big deal. Just take advil or tylenol and you will survive. It is actually funny because my sister is getting her braces tomorrw and she is freaking out. Trust me it doesn't hurt that bad, and when it is done you will have a great smile! Good Luck!!!!

Braces aren't bad at all! I had them on for two years.

The process is not painful. The spacers that were put in before hurt me more than when the braces were put on. The only time I felt pain was when I had to get them tightened. They told me to take Tylenol or Advil but it never worked for me and had to take aspirin.

They are going to give you a list of things you can't eat while the braces are on. Do your best not to eat them! I didn't listen the first year and had brackets break off two or three times.

The process is worth it. You'll have a movie star smile once they're off! :goodvibes

Everything that these guys above have said :)
also, I know it sounds silly, but make sure that you brush your teeth properly, floss (as much as is possible) and mouthwash to make sure that you wont have any marks when the braces do come off :)

It shouldn't be ridiculously painful, it will be uncomfortable, especially when your teeth are shifting, but it isn't anything to worry about! However, if you do have significant pain do contact your dentist ASAP.

But honestly, braces are well worth the hassle!

when you first get them, expect pain. Be prepared to eat something very soft and not chewy. I had them on for 4 years, and they are definitily worth it in the end. :) Good Luck!

The first couple days are definetly the worst!!
After that, they're fine. Getting them on is really easy too, so don't worry :)

I just got mine on back in June, so I understand what you're going through

People may have said this before but I am just giving you my input. The process of them actually putting them on is not painful at all. But afterwards I am not going to lie it does have alot of pressure and soreness. Take advil or tylenol to sooth the pain. You can gurgle sea salt water for a easy fix. I am now in the after braces/ retainer stage of the process. In the long run this will be all worth it :lmao:

there is nothing to worry about they will hurt at least the first two days. but just make sure u do not eat any carmel the next time u go to disney epcot germany i went to disney a month or two i got mine in march. i do not like them some times but i do like them when it comes to guys they r a real magnet :lovestruc

My parents said im getting mine soon. My brother had braces before for he said its hurts at first then after awhile the will be all good. So im kinda nervous.:rolleyes1
