Bra repair

Some pretty good tips here, I am going shopping today and will try to pick up some of the stuff suggested and see what happens. After all, nothing can be lost on something headed for the garbage right?

For the ones where the wire popped out and stabbed me, I did pull out the wire. But, I really can't wear those for anything other than cleaning the house. Nothing stays in place KWIM, and the look is terrible, under wires are not an option for me, they are a necessity.

I am interested in the plastic under wires but don't think I've ever seen them. I have to bend all the wires in under my arms because they are too wide, I thought it was just me... I suspect this is why so many snap. I wouldn't even know where to look for the plastic sort... please tell me they aren't the sort with all that seaming in them What brand is it?

I forgot all about lingerie bags :rolleyes:I think I even have some somewhere from before kids when I had time to gently soak and hang everything:upsidedow I like the idea of boxy ones that would keep everything in its shape, but frankly probably any sort would be better than what I am doing now.

You guys are all great for offering suggestions:disrocks:

I wash mine and then just hang the shoulder straps over the back door knob of the laundry room door. Door closed, can't see them, door open hidden between wall and door. Although I do not care who sees them it is just how I do it. Even though they are double over they still dry very fast.

I don't dry mine. Ds complains if he sees them hanging over the washer lid so I hang them in the shower in my bathroom. The kids don't go in there and neither do their friends.

I agree about the lingerie bag and hanging them to dry. Very easy- just pull out the bag and hang them on the doorknob in your closet or on a bathroom hook.

Also, life is too short not to wear a great bra. When you find one that fits amazingly, you won't want to throw it in the dryer. If you buy a decent one it will last.

I look at underwires as Victoria's Secret Expiration Date: When I get poked, they get tossed.

Also, if you dry your underwire bras and the underwires come out in the dryer, they can get into the mechanics and kill your dryer.

If you put them in the washer when they're starting to poke through, they can also come loose and kill your washing machine (either by piercing the rubber gasket in the front loader machines or going through the holes and blocking a discharge hose in the toploaders).

This just happened to me! The underwire came out of a bra in the dryer and went through the holes in the back of the dryer. It welded itself to one of the heating elements and shorted the whole thing out. Cost $125 to fix. I was more agitated about the bra however. I bought it at Victoria's Secret and it was only 2-3 months old. Now, at the first hint of the underwire starting to poke through, I get rid of the bra no matter how old it is!

I'm so ticked off at the bras I was wearing, they were from Soma, a division of Chicos and cost as much as Victoria's Secret ones. THe last three I would wear for around 2 months and then the uderwire would just break, always at the bottom, then begin poliong through at the bottom. Since we don't have a Soma within 50 miles, I started covering up the "poke through" with moleskin, how sad is that ? Just bought some $10 ones at Walmart, no underwire, they fit better and my wallet is a lot happier.

I LOVE!! my Soma bras! They are all I wear. I am also very careful with them since they were $50 each.
The salesperson told me to never wear the same bra 2 days in a row. She said they will not keep their shape if you do.
I wash in Woolite in the sink and hang up in the shower or towel hook.

A little OT here, but I was just wandering how anyone can wear underwire bras. I buy them and end up pulling the wire out because they are always poking me:confused:I HATE THEM!!!

I am a 38 D and believe me- I HAVE to have an underwire (or titanium steel cups). My Mom is a 34 A- she does not know what an underwire even is.
