I am desperate some new bras! I've looked at many stores and just cannot find what I'm looking for. I am a fuller figured woman ;) and really would like a bra that takes that "extra" on the side and pushes it towards the center of the chest. Know what I'm talking about? I also want one with a racerback/t-back. I have a few of those and can't live without them. No more pulling on the straps all day. Recommendations? Brands? Stores? Anything?

Thanks!!

I happen to love VS Body by Victoria Shaping Full Coverage Bras. I'm a bit top heavy so it's hard to find something that covers enough but still 'boosts' what I have...I am 27 and certainly don't want an 'old lady' bra...if you will. I've tried all kinds of different brands and styles and the VS ones are really the most comfortable and seem to work the best for my needs.

We have a local store here that specializes in custom bras and swimsuits. Maybe check your local area to see if you can find a similar kind of store - maybe they can custom make a bra that fits your needs and does what you want it to do. It might be a bit pricey but it'd probably worth it if you're having so much trouble finding something that you like.

Good luck!

I'm not sure how fuller figured you are, but I'm on the plus side, and have been really happy with the lane bryant collection. They have all different styles, so I think you could find what you're looking for. I think they go from 36 to 44. You could check their web site.

Yea baby, me sho do love some clevage! :)

Try figleaves.com. I'm a hard size to fit and they have lots on their site. Returns are free.

I got some from www.herroom.com I liked what I bought.

I'm the same way, I am full figured (blech, I hate it) and am always searching for one that pushes from the sides to the front. It gives a slimmer look. I did buy some from a specialty store in our town (doesn't help you I know) but some department stores do fittings for free and help you select ones that you'll like and that fit correctly. I managed to find one that pushed to the front and was a great fit. Then I lost 15 pounds and it doesn't fit right anymore so back to the drawing board (or fitting room).

Have you been fitted by a professional? Nordstrom and some other stores have ladies in their stores who do this for no fee. Nordstrom has one of the largest selections and will help you get a perfect fit. I'm an in between size so it's harder to find the perfect bra, but don't settle for a bra that "almost fits".

I've only been fitted once and that was many moons ago. I am way over due. I'll definitely go look at those bras mentioned. Thanks all!

I'm not sure whether you mean you are fuller figured in the band size, the cup size, or both, but Vanity Fair makes a full figure line that are awesome as far as fit. They have some of the same sizes as non-full figure lines (like 36D, 38D, 38DD), but the cut is so much better for those sizes instead of having the same cut as small (ie, 34B) sizes and they fit wonderfully. They also have other full figure sizes (40+) and I'm sure those probably fit just as nicely.

I've gotten my VF ones at JCPenney and Kohl's.

Guess because my body seems to change too much I can't stick with one certain brand or style. If I ever do find a style that is consistent it seems to disappear. I have to go and try on so many bras. Ugh. Wednesday I spent about 45 minutes trying on bras and found two that will work so-so. Good luck on finding one for yourself.

Macy's have great lingerie departments with a lot of selection. They also have trained fitters. I worked at one for a couple years. My guess is that you aren't buying a large enough cup size so that might help the problem. As for the strap issue, Bali and Olga have some that have the straps that come down at an angle in the back and attach close to the hooks and those straps will stay up as well as a tback or racerback, just to give you some more options.

I checked out the Her Room site and I clicked on Oprah's picks. You better be making what Oprah is if you want to afford one of those bras! :earseek:

I love VS bras, but they are limited in larger sizes.

Ok, Blondie is correct in saying those bras are expensive but...IMHO, they are worth every penny!!!

If you go to the link above, and click on Oprah's favorites on page two you will find the La Mystere Tisha Renaissance Bra. $65.00, but I am telling you, there will be no regret in buying it. I bought my first one last year after the Christmas Show and it is one of my favorites. I also have quite a few VS Body by Victoria.

Happy Shopping! :)

If any previous posters read this...does the VS bra or bra from Vanity Fair have underwires? I hate those, but looking for a better fitting bra. Thanks.

I'm *extremely* hard to fit and if my weight changes the slightest bit it affects the fit of my bra. After ordering, returning and reordering soooooooo many bras from the JC Penney catalog, one of the ladies in their catalog department finally offered this advice. She suggested I choose every bra I *think* I might like and ordering them in several different sizes. Have them sent to the local Penney's store and being notified of their arrival. They'll permit you to try on all bras and keep only the one or ones you want. This way you're only billed for the ones you like and also pay no shipping. No more returns, reordering and credits to account. That was getting OLD!

I just got a Fredericks of Hollywood catalog today, was looking at their bras & thinking of ordering some, oddly enough---some of their styles are what I think you're describing that you're looking for. VS bras don't fit me because their bands don't go large enough (most stopped at 38), but from what I could see, FoH goes up to a 42 on almost all of theirs.

I adore my Wacoal bras! They are fabulous! They are also expensive, BUT I watch for them to go on clearance. They come in lots of styles. I personally don't care for racerback, but I am sure they have them.

They sell them at Nordstrom, Dillard's, and Foley's. They sometimes have them at Nordstrom Rack, and they are frequently on clearance at Dillard's.

Good luck! Bra shopping sucks. But not as much as jean shopping! ;)

I'm the total opposite. I dropped 50 lbs a few years ago and my bra size didn't change AT ALL! I was shocked and had been hoping to drop at least the cup size, if not the band size.

Thanks for the strap info. I'd seen the straps that attach closer to the hooks and wondered if that would help them stay up better. There is nothing more irritating than yanking a strap up all day long.

I can't remember which brand makes it, but I've seen a strap that goes across the top of your back and hooks onto each bra strap on each side, to prevent the straps from sliding off your shoulders.
