our boy is going to be 23 months old when we make the first Disneyland trip for him and my wife... (she has been to WDW (104 days starting oct 28th 2005) and on Disney Cruise line (Wonder). We are wondering about rides with the boy, can he sit on our lap at rides like sorin, or will we need to do a parent swap (if they offer that at DL)?

You will have to Child Swap on Soarin' Over California unless he is 40 inches tall.

We have small kids - and our last trip was the first trip our then 4 1/2 year old was tall enough to ride Soarin', Splash, Space etc.

I can't think of any ride where they allow lap-sitting. Even gentle rides like POTC and Small World, they ask you to seat the child next to you.

And you didn't ask, but I'm not sure if you already know: There are LOTS of rides to go on with a child this age! Start out with gentle rides (Storybook Land Canal Boats, Casey Jr. Circus Train), then gradually move on to dark and/or faster, rougher rides if he tolerates them.

My youngest was 2yo when we first went, and he surprised me with how well he did in the scarier-themed rides like Pinocchio, Snow White and even the Haunted Mansion! He LOVES the Haunted Mansion, but my DS8 is too afraid to go on it. :lmao:

We were actually at DLR last weekend, and my 12 month old DS lap sat on many rides, including POTC, Dumbo, Mr. Toad, Buzz, TSMM, etc. Pretty much anything that he could ride (anything without a height requirement) he could either sit next to/betweend me & DH, or he could lap sit.

wow, i am surprised by that. the last few times we've been to DL, they have been absolutely militant about seating arrangments with us on rides like pinocchio and snow white.

The only ride that we had an issue with was Dumbo. First time on it I tried to seat him on the outside so that Daddy could videotape him riding. I was told that he must sit on the inside or on my lap. So, he rode on my lap. But, he definitely lap sat on both Pinocchio and Snow White.

Funny how it can change from cast member to cast member...:confused3
