I would like to ask all of my fellow DIS members and DVC members to boycott the member cruise. In fact to spread the boycott to other DVC members not on this board as well. This is plain and simple another time in which Disney is sticking it to the DVC member.

Category 4 is 8 points higher than the cruise on another week. Category 5 is 7 points higher, Categories 6-8 are 6 points higher, categories 9 and 10 are 5 points higher and category 11 is 4 points higher.

This is an outrage. Plus as somebody else pointed out Disney was going to make more money on this because it was stopping at Castaway Cay twice. Double the rentals and stuff.

Unreal.

BOYCOTT.

Would love to here everyone's opinion.

Just think if nobody goes what that would say to DVC and to Disney at large.

Thank you

I haven't been able to bring up the costs yet, but from what I've read here on the boards, I can tell you that we won't be going. The higher points probably won't matter to someone who has points (or cash) to burn. Unfortunately, that's not us. We'll go at another time of year for less!

If this sells out then I don't want to here about anybody complain about the cost to cruise or stay at the Poly. In addition no more belly aching about discounts to the parks. We can't get a discount for a cruise, in fact this is more expensive then the other cruises in the value season.

It is time to take a stand folks.

We looked at it ----for about 10 minutes. Our daughter who has been on the 3 day said no way Jose for two days at Castaway Cay. Boring.
I would rather spend my points at OKW, BCV, VWL, BCV, HH and VB.

I would like to suggest that people who choose not to cruise also write letters to DVC and DCL to let them know EXACTLY WHY you and your family are choosing not to go on this cruise. It probably won't change anything, but it will make our feelings on this kind of "perk" crystal clear.

We'll be sticking to our original plans, and cruising in October 2003.

Got the postcard last night. NO we are not going on that cruise. Our cruise was already been booked for the week before this cruise :). Plus this cruise is more expensive (for points & cash). Plus I don't want to go to Castaway Cay 2 times for our first cruise.

For those who cannot pull up the points, I posted them on the thread titled "Cruise Details Posted".

This is ridiculous. I was hoping we'd get a real bargain.

Does anyone who cruises often know if the cash price is equivalent to a regular 4 day cruise or is this more also? Just curious?

Terry, on another thread, I posted a quote that I got for a 4 day cruise in Jan. I'll list it here also. The cash price I got for the member cruise is what I've gotten from other posters on other threads.

$2895 - Jan. 12-16 (This was for a cat. 4 for 2 adults and 3 children w/o taxes, insurance, transfers, etc.)

The member cruise would cost us $3837.

Way too much!

That is crazy! Why would we pay more? Do think that just because we bought DVC, we would be willing to pay extra for anything that says DVC and Disney?

They truly think we are idiots and have no respect for us. We should and deserve the respect from Disney of being some of their best customers. We bought in for 40 - 50 years of using a Disney vacation.

This is what they come up with?

It is so embarrassing if anybody goes on this cruise.

We can make our own member cruise.

I totally agree! My sister went on the member cruise in April she recieved onboard credit and booked with lower points than a regular cruise. This is value season and we are not even getting a break! We really need to voice our opinion, don't book the cruise and let MS know why!!!

Yesterday, I planned to tell my DW of the DVC cruise but then I decided to wait. I'm glad I did. I have no plans to do this cruise.

Not meaning to insult everyone, but why would I use more points just to be on a ship with other DVC Members. ;)

I don't think we should be calling for a BOYCOTT. If someone wants to blow their points this way let them. They may have points to burn and want to hangout with other DVC members (we are sooo cool :))

I think using your points for a cruise is foolish anyway. The cash value doesn't make cents.

Boycott is necessary to show the DVC and all of Disney that they can't take advantage of us.

I actually had dh convinced to book it yesterday! NOW...HECK NO!!!

Do they really take us as being THAT stupid???
I am just outraged that there are no perks..I mean, no onboard credit and the cost is outrageous!!!

They expect us to use 88 points per person for a cat 11 in VALUE SEASON! Are they nuts?

I was looking forward to this, meeting other members, etc...but I agree with the boycott and letter writing...and calling MS! How else will they know how ANGRY this makes us?

Thanks for letting me rant! Wait till I tell dh!

I just checked out the current details on the Members web site and it is very dissapointing to see that they are not only NOT offering us a discounted rate for all catagories, they are not even offering a ship board credit. THe Anniversary Cruise last April was a great deal at the spur of the monment and my wife and I took advantage of it but that cruise was not just for DVC members. I think that DCL had lost so many bookings since 9/11 that they just wanted to fill the ship so they got together with DVC and put a package together that would attract lots of members.

This cruise is for "Members Only" and they are going to make us pay!
We are booked for the 5/4/02 cruise for less points so it makes no sense to try and do this cruise.

If they do not get enough interest in the cruise DCL & DVC will scramble to revise the package and make it more attractive.

DON'T CALL TO BOOK THE CRUISE!

:) :) :)

Went to sleep last night dreaming about our first cruise w/ our DD who is 4. Stayed up late combing these boards for tidbits of info. Had DH primed and DD all excited. So glad I didn't change my BWV's. This is outrageous! I thought for sure the prices would be cheaper than value season in the book. If I'm not mistaken, doesn't 2 days at Castaway Cay actually SAVE them on port charges etc.? And doesn't it cost us money to drink anything on the island? (does it cost for meals on the island also? ) Well, I guess its back to my favorite 1 bedroom villa on the Boardwalk for the Superbowl. GO PATRIOTS!! and the "boobie prize" goes to ...whoever thought up this assanine and insulting "special dvc members deal" .

What a rip! We will NOT be sailing on the member cruise either. I was really excited when I got the post card earlier this afternoon but after reading these boards we will definately not go. What is the exact incentive to go on this cruise?? Just because they're calling it a "dvc members" cruise? YOu'd think they'd make it worth it by offering lower points -- but to RAISE the amount of points is ridiculous.
