Boycott Starbucks in Magic Kingdom

I just realized that I will be able to get a pumpkin spice latte DURING MNSSHP instead of getting a triple venti on the way and making it last all night.

I am not as knowledgeable on the subject as everyone else but I worry what will be next. I don't want Olive Garden or Subway etc. I am more open to that stuff at DTD but not in the parks or resorts. Just me and I realize I am in the minority.

But we already have those kinds of things. Many restaurants are owned by outside companies like Landry's (Rainforest Cafe, Yak and Yeti...)

Yup we have the Rainforest Cafe her in Mass. I will be loving my venti shaken black tea lemonade in October.

Disney is tied to many companies, I just hate Starbucks, tastes like the motor oil heated up from my car, and Disney is a Coca Cola only facility just like Universal is Pepsi, don't care for Coke either, so problem is solved by bringing my own coffee and soft drinks. This is easy enough to do, even flying in, if you are staying on sites order from the grocer or make a quick stop at a local grocery store.

If absolutely nothing changed in regards to the name and decor, but overnight Disney subbed out the menu and ingredients at Tony's and brought in the menu from Olive Garden, would you even notice, (except to note an improvement)? As long as these chains don't come in with their huge "anywhere USA" signage and corporate decor, who cares if they churn out food from the kitchen? What is more important: a decent end product made by an employee of Fotune 500 company "A" or an inferior product made by a Disney employee working for Fortune 500 company "B"?

This will be a Starbucks in Main Street Bakery, not MSB in Starbucks. So it won't be a total take over of Starbucks. WDW does a great job of blending stuff into the parks. It will be nice to get a Frap on a hot and humid August morning on our way to the rides.

It's so funny that people are against a chain on Main Street in WDW, but almost the entire Main Street in DLR was made up of stores that were chains or owned/operated by a non-Disney retailer when it opened. And that was with Walt's approval himself! You could buy bras and pianos while walking downs in street.

Just a guess but maybe the OP is actually creating interest in the new corporate partner by posting a "boycott". :thumbsup2 Otherwise it is a silly argument IMHO.

I'm also sorry, no boycott for me. Their Caramel Ribbon Crunch frappuccino is too amazing to give up!!

Remember when wine and beer at BOG was going to be the ruination of everything Walt held holy? Still waiting.....

Jill in CO (drinking a tasty Trente Iced green tea and looking forward to many more in October!)

As long as DD19 favorite double chocolate chip muffin and DH favorite cinnamon bun are still available and not only Starbucks pastries, we will be fine! DD19 is thrilled she will be able to get her iced venti nonfat chai latte, but DH was hoping Dunkin Donuts coffee would set up shop, too! Lol

I'm not sure if this link will work, but it is from a website called Imagineering Disney, Then and Now and it has great comparison pictures of Disneyland when it opened verses today. The link specifically shows a picture from Main Street USA at Disneyland with a coffee shop with a large Maxwell House sign at the front.

I'm pretty sure that Walt would be fine with Starbucks. :teacher:

I don't understand what people aren't getting! It is still the Main Street Bakery and will still remain the same with the same foods and such.. they are JUST offering Starbucks as their coffee! Doesn't bother me one bit since the only drink I like from Starbucks is their Vanilla Latte, I never ordered coffee at MSB anyway. What is the big deal with that? Too many people are thinking it is being completely transformed into a Starbucks and I can't help but laugh at that!

I went to MK over t weekend and took a bunch of pictures of the facade. It still looks like MSB on the outside. That place had an awful queue, wasted space in the middle, and awkward check-out area, and limited seating. I love the cinnamon rolls too but I am really looking forward to real coffee and hoping they have improved the space.

I cannot agree more about the awful queue! Almost every time I've gone there, the line would be out the door so hopefully they are changing that whole area. I am sure they are... MSB is just too popular now not to.

Hopefully there will be a bit more seating too... it is not enjoyable to eat your food with "hawks" standing over and across from you staring, waiting for you to finish and get up so that they can have your table lol.

I don't usually get snarky...but, really? Did you boycott DTD when there was a McDonald's there? Did you boycott the brochures or picture spots when Kodak was sponsoring? Are you boycotting Test Track..it has a sponsor too.
Or how about Werther's or all the other food locales...Oh, let me guess, it's ok to have International companies in Epcot.

I don't drink coffee. But in the end, I don't care that Starbucks is there. If it makes other people happy (and believe me, DH and the kids NEED coffee), then let them have it.

I think Walt Disney would be happy. Heck, I bet he would've been first in line and wanting the biggest and best one. Maybe this whole endevour wouldn't have waited until 2013!!
