Hello everyone! Welcome to my first ever PTR. It'll turn into a TR soon, as in three months soon!! I'm not entirely sure how well this will go, or if it'll be entertaining in the least, but I thought "Why not share this trip with whoever wants to read it?". Anyway, before I start rambling on, let's get to the details!
I'm Julie. I'm a 26 year old Jacksonville, FL native that's been transplanted to live in Philadelphia. While I love it here, I sometimes wish I still lived in Florida so I could visit Disney more often but I guess living so far away makes the trips even more special! I've been to WDW many times in the last 13 years, the year 2000 was the first time back since I was about three years old and now I can't stop. This will be my first trip without parents or it being a school function.
Favorite Character : I've loved all things Tink since I was a little girl, but I have a soft spot for Belle - the first movie I can remember seeing is Beauty and the Beast, and I love the fact that she's smart and a reader!
Favorite Movie : Beauty and the Beast
Favorite Park : Hollywood Studios - I can't help it, I love musical theatre ( I'm a dancer ).
Favorite Ride : I lovelovelove the Rock'N Rollercoaster. It was my first looping coaster ( peer pressure on a school choir Magic Music Days trip my freshman year of high school! I didn't WANT to ride, but I wasn't going to watch everyones stuff either! ).
This is Brenna ( and Tom Felton ). She's my partner in crime for this trip ( unfortunately, we couldn't get him ). Here's a neat little tidbit - while we've been friends since 2008, due to a mutual interest and a few mutual friends, we've never actually met. Interestingly enough, we've been at a few of the same concerts, but never had the chance to meet face to face. This is changing in July though on a mini-vacation that I'm taking out to her area for a concert ( it's sort of a once-in-a-lifetime thing ). She hasn't been to WDW since she was six, so this is going to be a great trip!
Favorite Character : Scrooge McDuck and Cruella DeVille ( "I only like the mean ones." )
Favorite Movie : Oliver & Company
Favorite Park : Well, we'll get to this one later.
Favorite Ride : See above!*She did mention Mr. Toads Wild Ride at one point though but sadly, it's not around anymore.
Details : We'll be staying at Pop Century Resort from October 28th-November 3rd, with park hopper tickets, and one MNSSHP planned ( although we've been discussing adding another! ).
This is my first time really planning out a trip. While I've done Disney a LOT, we usually just fly by the seat of our pants and my family and I only did our first ADR ( Akershus Princess breakfast - because I begged like a five year old ) in August of 2011. This year, we have quite a few. To have a set meal every day of the trip is going to be something super new for me and possibly stressful as I like to get everywhere early and like to know exactly how to get there.
So how did this trip come to be? Well, let me explain. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a huge Backstreet boys fan. Have been since I first heard them. Their music saved my life and got me through some of the hardest things I've had to deal with, and I am forever indebted to these men. In December of 2011, I was fortunate enough to be able to join them on their S.S. Backstreet cruise to the Bahamas. Long story short, I ended up with Nick Carter's head up my butt ( trust me, there's plenty of video on the internet to prove it! ) - after seeing how fun it was just to be on the ship, Brenna decided she wanted to go if they ever did it again. They announced in October 2012 that they'd be cruising again - same ship, same destination - in October of this year, but there would be one major difference : it would be all five boys, in a reunion for their 20th anniversary. Amazing right?! So we booked the cheapest cabin and started preparing for over a year of waiting.*
In January of this year, Brenna asked me something I wasn't expecting - if I would be willing to do a few days in Disney after the cruise. Of course I jumped at the chance! We thought of a three or four day trip, but after realizing she hadn't been for so long, it quickly turned into six.*
My parents were originally going to fly down to meet us, giving us the option of hanging with them if we wanted to as well, but after learning that my dance studio is sending in a tape to dance at Disney in the summer of 2014 they chose to save their money and go with us then - when there would be more people to be with ( which I prefer, because this trip is going to be so jam packed! ).
We spent a few days on the Disney website to look at resorts and figure out our plan of attack. Since we won't be getting to Orlando until late Monday the 28th, we're going to explore the resort and DTD. We chose Pop because its still relatively new, cheap, and the whole "not sharing buses" thing is right up my alley after staying at POFQ for my last trip ( don't get me wrong, it was BEAUTIFUL, but we were literally in the back corner ) and stopping a bazillion times. I mean, after a long day, I can get cranky and I just want to sleep. Ya feel me? Sleep, man, sometimes it's awesome.
After much consideration ( and many visits to the official Disney site and here on the dis boards ), we decided we were going to do the basic dining plan in hopes that they'd offer free dining while we were going to be there and we'd be able to save a certain amount of money. With the cruise costing us well over $1,000 each, and then the whole Disney experience, plus flights added in, food costs would really be a pain in the butt. At least with the dining plan, we'd figure it into the trip cost and not have to worry about saving money so we'd be able to EAT on vacation. BUT ANYWAY. That's another story for another time.
So, here's our beginning. With only three months and some odd days left to go, the countdown is ON!*
