The last time we went to WDW was in 2008, things have certainly changed!

Magic Bands? Say what?

I have a question though, the last time we went, we were able to find a "box swap" here, with leftover snacks and fun stuff, for the resort we were in. I have searched for an hour, and I can't find the swap threads!

Can someone point me there?

Oh, and if anyone has any other info, about the changes in the last 6 years, I am certainly open to advice and suggestions!

Sorry, I don't think swap threads are allowed anymore. It's been a LONG time since I've seen any. No need for fridge swaps, since all Disney resorts have in-room mini refrigerators now.

I'd suggest reading the FP+ Basic Info thread on the Theme Park board. It's a LOT to learn on your own.

Ah, box/fridge swaps. I'd forgotten about those. We actually did a fridge swap back in 07 when we stayed at Pop. Glad that's not necessary anymore.

The only similar I've ever seen to that is the Bonnet Creek tubs. I haven't seen an update on the thread for a couple months, so it may have to gone the way of paper FP, 20000 Leagues Under the Sea and gratuities included on DDP. The premise was folks who had a reservation signed up to collect the tub from the Luggage Hold, used the items included during their stay and then returned it with the next family's name.

I know we were had a few folks who posted on our monthly vacation thread. Simple things like "leaving in 2 days, have extra water bottles at (resort)...send PM."

When we left Windsor Hills, we asked folks in the homes near us if they wanted some of the unopened items. They said thanks, but no. Mentioned it at the club house (hey, it's a big bag of potato chips, and a case of water) and they said many people are afraid of safety issues. :rolleyes1

I've been leaving any unopened snacks or beverages in the room for the staff to deal with. When checking out of CBR a few years ago, a rare trip without a car, I called bellhop for service to DME stop. The nice man asked if I was leaving unopened 2 liters of pop, bottled water and unopened snacks behind. I told him to take them. He told me that he will and they will go to the employee break room. So he loaded up my luggage along with the stuff I was leaving behind.

Not sure what the staff usually does with the stuff that is left behind. Guess I'll start a thread on the resort board to see what happens.

I had a trip where I thought I could handle not having a stroller for my then 3 year old. That lasted a day. I was not paying the Disney rental price and hate umbrella strollers. I'm too tall to push one of those around...so off to one of those Mart stores. Purchased a $50 stroller for use during the trip. Didn't need it at home nor the hassle of getting it home. Left it in the room. Hoping someone got use out of it.

Really?? Man that sucks! We loved our box swap! :(

Any rhyme or reason as to why they stopped? I get that the fridge swaps stopped because they put them in the rooms, but people used to do stroller and box swaps?

I'm past the days of needing strollers but I've heard you can find Disneyworld stroller swaps etc on Facebook.

I think they stopped them because as you can imagine, it got complicated and items were disappearing and then people would be complaining here to the Moderators etc etc etc.

You can try looking on Facebook, there are a few groups on there.
