Thanks to DVC I've been living in a dream world!!!!

I can't belive how much it costs to stay on site outside of DVC. If you didn't know about the codes etc - it can be overwhelmingly expensive.

no wonder my family thinks i'm nuts. (of course, i've never told them i belong to dvc.)

It is hard to believe that many people out there just call Disney and book a package, paying rack rate, and just think that is the way it is. They have no idea about codes and such. But then, some folks see WDW as a "once in a lifetime" trip, and just don't really do any research because they think they will never go again.

Okay, I'll fess up. Our first trip, we went to a travel agent and said we'd like to go to Disney World. The TA arranged everything for us. We stayed at the Poly and spent a fortune. Not that we didn't have a great time, it's just looking back, we could have done so much better.

We didn't even look into DVC that trip. Three years later, we were a bit smarter and booked our own trip with codes. That's when we bought into DVC because a neighbor of ours told us all about it. I think we were sold on DVC before we even met with our guide.

My first trip as an adult we stayed off site and new nothing of DVC. Our second trip in 2001 we stumbled across DVC had an appointment and then canceled it. Then on our last day we were walking around the Boardwalk and said what the heck and walked into the DVC center. I was hooked. We left Disney World that day and talked about it all the way home. The thought of almost $11,000 had us a little concerned but knowing how muchwe love Disney we couldn't pass up the offer. I called them two days later and bought 150 points(wishing we could afford more) but we just bought a house.

People think we are a little nuts.......untill we take them with us and then they all understand why we bought DVC. I would never have been able to afford staying at OKW or BoardWalk when we going in May if it weren't for DVC. It's already paid for it's self and now we can stay two to three weeks (depending on the time of year and depending on if we stay weekends) for about $600 a year. What a deal!!!!

I've been looking for a room for one night for 1/2 of the family - we are arriving a day earlier than everyone else. (Just me and my 2 DDs - good mother / daughter time!)

I thought we would stay at the Poly and according to the official disney sight one Saturday night in April - lagoon view - over $700!

Our first family trip was also arranged by a travel agent - but she got much better rates for us than that - and thank goodness she booked us at OKW. That changed our travel habits for the better!!

I wonder if my family thinks we pay that much a night?? :earseek: aw - who cares - they think we're nuts already!

And now DVC is even better. The new AP deal saves us $700, which is more than half of our annual dues.
