boy character meal petition

Thank you! I signed in honor of my almost 5 year old boy!

I don't think it would be likely that anyone would prevail in a suit against a company using their own copywrited characters for a character meal at one of the company's own theme parks.

I'm signing. Not only for my 3 yo ds, but my 9yo and 6yo dd's that have NO interest:confused: in the princesses!! We 're going for our first family trip in Nov and I didn't even try for CRT b/c they don't like Cindy:rolleyes: I even tried to bribe my 6yo dd with any princess costume she wanted at BJ's. Her response"no thank you mommy" :earseek:

I too suggested this in a letter that I wrote to Disney about an experience.

I got a letter back from legal also basically stating what was posted above--they don't take outside ideas

It does seem to be a fear of "that was my idea" type of thing.

I miss the old Soundstage character meals with Aladdin and friends.
I also miss the old Villain dinner at the Grand Floridian--that was a lot of fun!!

SIGH! I sure wish they had a Toy Story or Aladdin character meal.

Thank you so much for taking the time to create the petition! Both my husband and I signed it just now. Our DD3 is all about the princesses, but her cousin Layla, 5, can't stand them and I feel like Disney has left the non-Princess group unattended.

Applause for the suggestion of an Aladdin or Monsters Inc. inspired breakfast. She would love that, and our DD3 would enjoy it as well.

Fabulous idea!!! My son lives, eats and breathes Buzz light year and peter pan! I feel bad that we do the princess breakfasts for my daughter but there is not a special meal for him. We do the other meals with Mickey, Pluto, etc. but it is absolutely not the same as a meal with Buzz, Peter Pan, etc.

Thanks so much and I'm signing!! I'm thinking about starting a petition to get Disney to drop the idiotic policy of "no outside ideas"!!

Probably not, but they'd have to go to court to not prevail - which would be costly. Disney probably hires outside firms to handle litigation - and at $200 and hour and up - even a frivolous lawsuit can get expensive. Since so many people have suggested this to them, the chance that they will get several lawsuits is pretty high.

i can't believe it. i'm already up to 134 signatures in two days. this is amazing!!! i'm jumping for joy at how well this is doing already. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc thanks to all that has signed up already. i have a good feeling that we will be making a difference with the WDW Company in no time flat!!!

I love this idea!! My 5 year old LOVES LOVES LOVES Peter Pan & Prince Phillip, Buzz has fallen a bit behind :p but he's still there.

He loves the Adventurer's toys & Hero's toys from TDS(he has an Adventurer's Room!)and I'd love to see a character meal like that! Peter Pan, Prince Phillip, Aladdin, Hercules, Tarzan! Think of the fun they could have with that!

I also love the Pixar idea. My boys would be in heaven!!!(even my oldest, almost 10 year old!)

I signed it. I would love to see Buzz lightyear and it would be even more fun when he turned and his wings took out the buffet line.

I signed too. As a mother of 3 sons and now a grandmother of 2 boys, I have to say that I wished they would provide more character meals that appeal to boys.

yeah, mickey, donald, goofy, pluto, etc are geared for boys but how many times can a boy have meals with them? wouldn't they like a variety in characters?

Most boys (and girls) don't travel to Disney enough to worry about dining with a "variety" of characters. I think the majority of those who travel to WDW would rather see Mickey or Goofy, than Woody. JMO.

My friend is a CM at a Disney storey. She tells me the princesses and fab 5 are the big money makers (especially the princesses). The boy heroes just don't sell as much. That's probably the reason why there was never a heroe themed meal.

Tell that to my son! He's much more interested in Buzz than the classic characters. No, he's not into the Buzz merchandise like his sister is into the princess stuff. But he'd still be thrilled to go to a boy themed meal.

Definitely something they should do for lads. They're not really worried about the legal stuff pertaining to this-- like most entertainment businesses, they just send any mention of any idea back by reflex (or circular file it). This idea is not one that anyone could sue for beyond about 2 seconds-- Disney's lawyers would have an instant summary judgement in any suit about this, and any new costs from the suit would easily be outweighed by the publicity ("You mean they now have a lads' character meal? Let's go!"). So they are not "not doing it" just because people are clamoring for it. More likely they are not doing it just because they haven't planned it out yet to the nth degree, or, less likely I would think, their beancounters and marketeers have deemed it unprofitable. Another possible slowing-them-down factor is the terms of the Pixar co-ownership/profits deal in place (whatever those terms are), seeing as the hottest lad character meal would be Buzz, a "shared" character. Personally, I think that may be why D-MGM's Pizza Planet is not as themed as it could be.

Just don't send them any movie ideas, about new or existing characters, that definitely puts them in a cold sweat :)

PS-- A Buzz and Woody character meal would sell out every day.

i think a variety in character meals would be a nice change in WDW. there are still some characters that i haven't met yet that i still want to. and i do hope to meet them next month when i'm in WDW. i'd love to meet hercules, tarzan, aladdin, just to name a few. i think it would be great for young boys, and girls too, to have more access to their favorite characters. i resulted to a chart on one website that tells me where i can find the characters. it helped out a great deal during our last trip but i think it would make the trip a lot easier if there were character meals with hercules, tarzan, aladdin, etc. it would also be less stressful, too.

I signed the petition as well, I do feel like this is an area that Disney has been totally overlooking. My son likes Goofy but he wouldn't even know about him if it hadn't been for the goofy movie a few years ago. I really think that kids and I say kids because while everyone is screaming about this meal that is geared for little boys, I think that a lot of little girls like these characters as well, I believe that it is easier for the kids now days to enjoy the movie characters because they see them more.

I read a post a long time ago, and the person had sent a letter to WDW requesting the same thing and was told that the characters from Toy Story are too big and bulky and wouldn't be the ideal characters for entertaining at a meal. I love this idea but I do doubt that wdw is going to do it due to legality of it all. But, you never know they might, I hope they do. I bet that they will send a response telling us thank you but they do not accept outside suggestions and then well all this dies down in a year or two they will try one out.

Keep hoping though.

I'm also signing, I just asked about Buzz at any of the character meals on the Family Board and they said no. My son loves Buzz! We are going to Disney in Oct. & he told me he wants to see the real Buzz, I though a meal would be great. I also feel there are not enough character meals for the boys. Yes, my son knows Goofy, Mickey, Pluto but is he a big fan, no, is he a big fan of Buzz, Yes!

I think if there was a character meal geared more to boys it would be sold out most days also

Buzz comes out on a schedule right by Cosmic Rays - the line gets long - but there is a trick - show up three minutes before he is due. There will be a "short" line of people who know he is coming out. Ask his "handler" what his schedule is on an earilier appearance - or you can get this information at the Town Hall on Mainstreet.

The Buzz costume is very awkward. He stamps autograph books instead of signing them, and he really can't see a darn thing. I'm pretty sure he won't be showing up at a character meal - unless he hosts by standing outside. I'm personally lobbying for Tarzan - although the lack of a shirt might be a problem for health regulations (and who would be interested in Tarzan with a shirt?). Hercules wears half a shirt.....Aladdin and Peter Pan are fully dressed (every CM I've seen as Aladdin has been darn cute to - the DHs think its so about Jasmine in her harem outfit and they are so wrong - Shang was pretty hot as well).

I wish you all luck. I've been hanging on these boards three years and for all three years people have been writing, petitioning and calling for a "boy" character meal. Perhaps one day they will reach a critical mass of interest and Disney will do something, but I've stopped holding my breath that it will happen before my son reaches college and I'm too old to leer.

Thanks for your efforts tinkerbella! I signed too. If they only brought back the 'Villains' dinner at 1900 Park Fare, it would be something. It was one of our best character meal experiences! The pictures are a hoot! The villain from Pocohontas (forgive me, I forget his name) tried to help my son eat his sundae, then he wiped his face with a napkin between every bite. Captain Hook really hammed it up too - then we saw him again the next day at the MK parade and he came right over & continued the antics. We DO enjoy Cindy's plus the traditional character meals, but I'm all for variety.

Pixar characters would be great but personally - and I know this has as much chance of happening as a snowball in... - but I'd LOVE a Star Wars character meal!

Good luck & thanks again!!!
