An 18 year old boy was stabbed wednesday night in the car park of our local shopping mall (merry hill). Dave picked me up from work just after 7 and as we drove out of the carpark we saw a crowd of youths fighting bouncing off peoples cars We get a lot of kids on roller skates hang out down there they are a nightmare, so we didn't really think much of it. When we picked DD up later that evening she told us about this lad being stabbed. We are now asking ourselves if we should have gone back and done anything but these days you are frightened to help anyone. Its a vile world we live in :confused3

thats Awful :sad2: im not sure i would step in though, you have to think of your own family.

I would not recommend stepping in.
As my dad was leaving the pub last christmas eve the barmaid who had finished her shift was waiting for her mum to pick her up
A lad was harrassing her and she called my dad over to help this led to my dad getting stabbed 5 times as he held on to the lad he held on to him as long as he could and only let go of him as he heard the sirens he just missed a major artery and we were lucky as my dad was allowed home on christmas day.
Needless to say this ruined our christmas as we were unsure how my dad was going to be.
So i would recommend anybody to refrain from helping out as you can very well end up the victim of these cowards who seem to think that they are hard and dangerous all because they carry a weapon. Luckily this lad is now behind bars and my dad is fine.

That is sad about the boy but all you could have really done is contact security who are probably aware of the situation but don't do anything or call the police again the likelyhood of them doing something is rare.

Something needs to change in this country fast.

I'm sorry to hear about you dad ariel75, i'm glad he is ok though.

I have heard today the lad is out of intensive care, apparently the knife cut the main artury in his leg so he is lucky to be alive. I spoke to the police last night but couldn't tell them much. Its ironic though there are security guards every where in merry hill today shame they weren't anywhere to be found on wednesday evening.

That is terrible and as others have said it's a sad world that we live in where we can't risk stepping in! I'm glad he's going to be OK!

It's so sad! My frind said she was at the pub opposite, i went to merry hill the day after and there were security guards chasing someone, luckily they caugh him! The worlds gone mad!

Now if this country actually had more Police than the current trend for recruiting PCSO's then things would get better. Please don't say the Police don't do anything when you know little about us, we try our best with limited resources that the govt now make available to us. Most towns of 100000 plus residents only get 12 or 14, if that, repsonse officers on a shift. Also the deterants and sentences for commiting such a crime are pitiful! The majority of Police want to catch the criminals.

hello, just a up-date to the above incident. looks like a chap called ashley ***** has been arrested. i also live next to merry hill. sister phoned me yesturday to say a local lad living few doors away from her was arrested at 3am. police officers took clothing and other bags away from the property. kids on the estate have said it common knowledge between the kids that he did it. as he was heard bragging about it.

the vitim is still in our local hospital with injuries.:surfweb:

I didn't actually say the police don't do anything, I said it is rare they do attend certain calls due to lack of staffing. I know this from experience. I have nothing but respect for the police and wish they had more resources to be able to do their jobs. That is what my comment was based on, I should have worded it more clearly:goodvibes

I hope the lad recovers soon from his injuries

i too live very near merry hill (there are lots of disers around here;) ) i will not let my kids out despite living in a very "good" area, i get grief from them all the time...
makes me realise i am right.
