My first time trying boxed wine! I have to say, what a deal! lol. My best friend came over with Black Label box Chardonnay and I had a good laugh, but now that I have tried it, I dont think I will be a bottle snob anymore! :) Just thought I would share. It is 17.00 for the equivilent of 4 bottles, so it seems like a bargain if you have a lot of guests.

DH and I actually like the Wine Cube from Target. I don't know where else it is sold, if anywhere. Similar in price to what you mention, they have 3 sizes. We think it is quite a deal for something very drinkable.

I'm a fan too. I usually get either the Sutter Home white zinfandel or Loalio Sangria. More affordable, and easier to store. I also think it keeps longer. I will have maybe a glass or 2 a week....wine stoppers just don't keep it fresh very long when trying to re-cork a bottle. It is so much easier to keep the box on the back of a shelf too, instead of having a bottle rattling around in the door.

One of my dear friends now an , used to live by and swear by boxed wine, that was also the name of her blog. I miss her, she passed away 2 years ago from Scleroderma:sad1:, Any how, I think I will pick up a box this weekend and drink it in her memory.

I love boxed wines. Great Value. And you can take them to your pool (ok, a private pool, not a public one) set it on the edge and not even have to get out of the water to fill your wine glass. Great fun.

I'm enjoying some right now! My first box. I was a bottle snob, until I saw a really good bargain at Kroger. I think I may have to change my ways :rotfl:

We really enjoy Black Box Cabernet. We get it for $17.99 @ a liquor store attached to Costco. This is the only boxed wine we like. We even bring it on our Disney Cruises;) (CM8 - I will have a sip in honor of your good friend)

No boxed wine, but I did order a cabernet at a wedding once, and the bartenders "poured" it out of a beverage gun. It actually had a little foam on top of it. Let's just say, I switched to a different beverage ;).

We took box wine on our trip to Disney last week because we didn't want to deal with bottles. It was Vendage brand (Merlot and Cab) and we thought it was pretty tasty. :thumbsup2

We Love the Black Box Cabernet:thumbsup2 I've tried a few others but I think Black Box is the best for boxed wine. We tried it after we read about it in an article about the best boxed wines in Consumers Reports. Also I enjoy the California Central Coast wines and Black Box Cab comes from the Central Coast area.

Another good one if you like Pinot Noir is Folonari Boxed Wine. Very drinkable and also a great deal!

Boxed wine is the only kind my elderly parents drink. They love it. Me, well I'm sort of particular about wine. I still like it out of a bottle. :goodvibes

(Although I like the idea of boxed wine for a Disney trip. And also the idea of setting it on the edge of the pool for easy refills....brilliant!) :thumbsup2

Boxed wines have definitely improved over the past couple of years. Personally, I think Black Box is the best but there are others that are not to bad either.
I wish we could get Black Box for $17 a box, because of taxes here our local price is $23.00. :scared1:

We like the black box for a decent "everyday" wine. For dining out we like a better bottle of course, but some of the box wines are a good value. There are a couple of boxes being packed for our trip next week!

I don't like it, We are winos and really like good wine. Doesn't have to be expensive but it's got to taste good. I do use boxed wine for making Sangria for parties.

I am not a wine drinker but when I saw this I had to respond due to the immortal words of Maggie Griffin, a box wine conneiseur and Kathy Griffin's mother.

After years of making fun of my aunt for her love of Franzia chillable red, I never thought i would purchase boxed wine. Then I read an article on how good vintners were starting to sell it and they talked specifically about Black Box. Someone even showed me where Black Box was listed in Oprah's magazine as one of her favorite things. I have to admit I'm now a convert. Especially since both Sam's and BJs sell the cabernet for only $15.99!

Forgot to add that it's perfect for a Disney trip! I already have a box packed in my Disney box for October.

There! I admitted it!

I had read in the paper one day about boxed wine comparing to bottled. Specifically Chardonnay.
The reviewer encouraged people to give Franzia Chardonnay Select a try. I tried it. I liked it. (granted there are some bottled Chard that I think taste better, but are double the price, so they are not that good!).

Then I started wondering about other boxed wines. So with my Franzia still sitting in my refrig, I would buy another boxed wine as a comparison. Tried the Black Box Chard. It was good, but not better than Franzia. And more $$. Then I compared Franzia to Target's Cube of Chard. I actually preferred the Fraizia to the Cube.

The Franzia Chardonnay Select is a little more pricey than the other Franzias, but for $14.99 for 5 liters, as much as I enjoy complaining, I cannot complain.

PS I also bring the boxes with me on vacation. The work great on cruises!

I think the box wine would be great for a cruise.
