I started printing out door signs last night......need opinions/thoughts on this....

to save on magnetic stuff, was thinking of using clear shelf liner (what my family calls Contact paper) to cover it--will it make the sign stiffer? In Jan my signs started curling. (does that make ANY sense???? :confused3).

At Staples a 5 pack of Glossy magnetic Photo paper is like $15 ($3 a sheet)-- I have been ordering mine off of ebay from this seller (3 times already!) The stuff is great and goes through my HP home printer without a problem. It works out to a little over $1 per sheet with shipping.

Which made me start thinking about the name tags. I was planning on putting each person's real name & the user name of the person with which they are associated. Perhaps a system so you know who is a DISer and who is a come-with?

Here's what I had for everyone, I think the white over white might be a little harder to read from a respectable distance:

Here I changed the user name to gold and think it might be a little easier to distinguish between the 2 names:

Non-DISer: Since you can't read the red as easily, you then don't have to remember anything they posted, facts about them....

Lynne,

For some reason they look different on my screen:confused3
But I think they look Great.:lmao:

Mischief anyone?

Lynne, Thank you that was very generous of you. I'm Tinked and Lorrie is just a travel friend but she will be happy too. I am really looking forward to meeting you and others from this board.

I can't believe that your friend is named Lorrie! ME TOO!!! Same spelling! I never meet someone with the same name!

I noticed on the boards people mentioning about the mickey bars and was wondering if they had the strawberry fruit mickey bars on board like they do at the theme parks?

Thanks.

Don't remember who said this but I'm there too.....I LOVE watching the kiddos on board...I have no kids of my own (just neice & nephew that I :love::love: but then really love being able to give back to my sis). :lmao:

We love to spend time around the Mickey pool watching the kids. My DW is a "Grandma Wanna Be" because our son and his wife have choosen not to have children .... yet. :flower3: One of best friends just adopted a girl and we are her Pop Pop & Gigi which helps. We still love to watch the kids have fun.

Hmmmm...will we be on the same plane to London? BA 0479 departs 11AM. :confused3

What I would do in Amsterdam....STALK RUTGER HAUER! :lovestruc

.

We wil indeed be on that same flight, but we are getting off on Friday instead of Saturday. London was more appealing for a few days than Spain. Plus, we booked first class non-stop from London to Boston for $700 per person. Cheaper than leaving coach out of Barcelona!

I use the magnetic paper that can be run through the printer for my door signs and have never had any curling problems. :confused3 These are little expensive but sometimes you can find a deal on them.

As a matter of fact I just bought two packs at Office Depot yesterday to print ours and our DS's door signs.

Lynne, they look fabulous. I too love the idea of the yellow and red.

Regarding the QOTD:
This is our first Disney cruise, so we'll find lots of new things to do. Last year for our honeymoon, we did a 10 day cruise, which seemed so short. Our cruises before that were 14 (Alaska B2B) and 15 days (circle Hawaii). Haven't done a 7 day in a few years. Love sea days.

Things we like to do....sleep in, read, go in the hot tub, walk the ship, attend any sort of karaoke/dancing/game show, and stay up late in the bars socializing with new friends we meet.

Some things we don't typically do, but will probably do on this cruise is go to the movie (chance to see if the new 3D gives us a headache-traditional 3D does, so we've never paid to see a 3D movie) and the shows (the shows on HAL are not for us). popcorn::

One thing that doesn't seem to be as big on Disney is trivia; we are used to scheduling our day around attending trivia. Some of the recent daily programs I've seen have some sort of trivia during dinner time! Might have to pack trivial pursuit to get our trivia fix.

We will also play a lot of cards (canasta, hand and foot, 45's, eukre, hearts, oh hell, etc) and are bringing a few games that pack well (I think Dominion, Lost Cities, Ticket to Ride the card game, and a few others).

Melissa

Once we decide on a day, should we have a sign up of people interested in going? Just so we know if we need 2 rooms or not? I really have no idea how a tour works... I'd also like to see just how blocked a window is - is that a secret porthole room? Know what I'm talking about?

If you go to *****************, they have pictures of all the windows and their obstructions. Only two are significant. I have stayed in several of them and loved my free window upgrade and location on Deck 5.

Okay, I'm convinced I won't be the only adult wearing a big poofy princess dress. I'm definetely bringing by royal blue poofy gown and my less poofy periwinkle dress for the two formal nights. Now I have no idea what to bring for semi-formal night. I'm tempted to bring my other formal dress which is a navy color. It's still formal, but less "dramatic". I might be "overdressed", but I'll look fabulous. Then I have to think about what to bring for the night at Palo..... I love my formal dresses, and I only get to wear them on cruises. So it is hard to narrow down the choices, and I haven't even gone shopping yet.

So I might be wearing formalwear every night at this rate!

Melissa

Ok.. I guess I need to spend more time reading. The princess night is a DIFFERENT night than the formal nights? Guess I better get cracking with a costume then!

Is a microwave available on the ship?

Not in the rooms and I do not remember seeing any for passenger use but there might be. :confused3

I just noticed that you are from my hometown of Raleigh. :thumbsup2 Did you grow up there? I went to Broughton HS and graduated in 1970.

Monica, I have never used contact paper but last year when I was at Office Max/Depot looking for laminate stuff for my magnets I saw they have some you use without a heat laminator. We have a laminator machine at work I can use so I just buy my own plastic stuff. But they have plastic that you don't have to have a machine to use. Do you understand what I mean? I just use regular paper to print and laminate and put magnet strips on the back. If you don't want to bother with the laminating, you could just use card stock to make it stiffer. I usually reuse my magnets so I like to laminate them. But if I have ones specific to the cruise I'm on, I might not bother.

Thanks for the tips, Linda - didn't even think about using card stock (duh!). I usually reuse magnets but also have some that are cruise-specific :thumbsup2

Even on the Panama Cruise I did not feel I had enough time to do nothing at all. We were on the go everyday. Hopefully this time we can just sit and read and enjoy meeting with all the friends we made on this site

I felt like I was constantly on the go on the PC cruise - there was always something to do. Only day I felt like I was able to really relax was Puerto Vallarta day, where I sat outside the Cove Cafe w/ Jackie (I was sick so didn't do my excursion & Jackie just decided to blow her's off) :goodvibes

My last cruise (7nt Western) was wonderful for just sitting outside the Cove Cafe, reading & staring out to sea.

This cruise I plan to do some stuff (but not all) & some relaxing :thumbsup2

I haven't played canasta in YEARS!!!

I'm planning on bringing my Phase 10 cards & maybe the travel Yahtzee & Boggle (if my mates want to play w/ me).

My DD works in a casino so I could bring some cards if someone wants to play canasta. That brings back fond memories of grandma and me playing while grandpa went fishing while on vacation at the Lake of the Ozarks when I was a little girl.

Both my husband and I love playing canasta but have only ever played against computer players so I am sure it is a bit different playing against real live people.:)
