Weigh in folks - "OPEN (stateroom) HOUSE" or "ESCORTED TOUR" (we're walking, we're walking . . . ). Wishes of the those opening their "homes" should be foremost.

I'm w/ Dee on this one. Now, if I stayed put with folks dropping in for an hour or so, I guess And, Lynn, somehow my (upgraded from 7) Cat. 4, Deck 8 never made the leap with Mrs. Gumdrops. I'm glad someone else stepped up with the Cat. 7 (navigator's verandah), since there's so few, and they're worth seeing.
Now, to work the passenger list and get us one of each of the suites:banana:

I like the "open house" too bad I can't bring along my open house signs and balloons.

What do you expect to do on this 14 day cruise that you were never able to do on a shorter cruise?:cool1:

NOT feel guilty about just lounging around and thinking I'm missing something! (I probably AM missing something...but there will still be plenty of OTHER somethings to do!)

Delay the final bill.

Woody

:lmao: But it will be a BIGGER bill!

Which made me start thinking about the name tags. I was planning on putting each person's real name & the user name of the person with which they are associated. Perhaps a system so you know who is a DISer and who is a come-with?

Here's what I had for everyone, I think the white over white might be a little harder to read from a respectable distance:

Here I changed the user name to gold and think it might be a little easier to distinguish between the 2 names:

Non-DISer: Since you can't read the red as easily, you then don't have to remember anything they posted, facts about them....

Love having the user name in gold instead of white. I also like having the DISboarders family/friends having their user name also (and the red is a good distinction), so you know who they belong to! ;) Also with it being in red we would know that they actually AREN'T the DISer and therefore may be a little more shy about being accosted...I mean, approached by strangers. :upsidedow

.

Lynne, I like the gold/red approach to the name tags!

For the question about the bounce... I sure know that one! It's the Whoop-de-Dooper Loop-de-Looper Alley-Ooper Bounce! (The more you try, the more
you fly, and that's what really counts!!!) If you want to see more lyrics, go to http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/thetiggermoviesongs&story/whoop-de-dooperbounce.htm. Yes, I am a BIG Tigger fan...

-- Adrienne, excited that we leave three weeks from Friday, but concerned that we have LOTS of packing to do... and have Passover before we go, too!
Elian, waiting to meet his DISBoard friend, play in the Lab & Club and have room service

Melissa, I found THE BEST birthday card for your DH. :thumbsup2 Totally appropriate for the time/place of his birthday and the crowd he'll be cruising with!

Yeah!! He'll be so surprised about the fuss of his birthday. I had a banner printed up, some magnets, a t-shirt for him to wear. I'm on the hunt for some small gifts for him to open on the ship, some decorations for our dining table, room decor. Should be a fun day!

Comparison of 7-day to 14+ day:

1) More time to get more intimate with different parts of the ship (not to be confused with getting intimate IN more parts of the ship)

:scared1::eek::rolleyes1

I have Eagle Creek cubes from the Container store. They were on sale in June and are really great. They were doing demonstrations and everything.

I also got sets from LLBean for $29 for the whole set but no folding helper. The Eagle Creek sets were Christmas gifts for my DDs and their DHs and then I couldn't resist the $29 sets from LLB so I bought them too.

I've been traveling a lot since I retired and they are perfect. I can do my initial unpacking in 5 minutes.

I also have packing cubes. I got them from www.ebags.com. I haven't used them yet, though. Any tips? Do you put outfits in them or all undies, all shirts, etc? I have all sizes.

I have been using Eagle Creek packing cubes for years, and love them. They are a great way to get organized.

There are no set rules for using them.

I use them for "like" articles. Such as, all socks in one cube.

I also use small ones for camera gear (camera, battery charger, batteries, memory cards), and for electronics (iPod, earbuds, charger, extension cord, cell phone, charger).

Woody

We have Rick Steves packing cubes and use them all the time, but it seems that we really just need one large cube each in addition to what we already have. I don't like that I have to buy a set w/ 2 little cubes just to get the big one. The only cubes I've seen that you can buy separate are like $16 per cube and I don't think that's a good value. I will check at Target but if I come up short we'll have to buy the set again :headache:

Packing cubes makes everything soooo much easier. Your clothes aren't a mess and they don't get messed up when/if TSA goes through your things. If you don't have packing cubes, I highly recommend getting some...not just for the super-organized! :thumbsup2

Happy St. Patrick's Day Everyone!

 How about limegreen for the name?

I like these Lynn! :thumbsup2

Our DS and DDIL have started running some. They just completed their first 5K last weekend. :worship: I thought that I read somewhere WAY back that there was a 5K at Castaway Cay. Anyone have any information about this and where I might direct them to sign up if there is one? :surfweb:

For those of you having celebrations while on board....don't forget to let DCL know so that a cake can be brought out (& fuss can be made ;)) one night at dinner. Call DCL & tell them what night you want the celebration for (you can also set this up w/ your server once on board).

Are the celebrations noted on the spreadsheet? I want to go and look at those that we want showered w/ cards :goodvibes

:welcome: to the newbies

:dance3: Congrats to the new Grandparents :lovestruc

:grouphug: to those who need it :grouphug:

Don't remember who said this but I'm there too.....I LOVE watching the kiddos on board...I have no kids of my own (just neice & nephew that I :love::love: but then really love being able to give back to my sis). :lmao:

I started printing out door signs last night......need opinions/thoughts on this....

to save on magnetic stuff, was thinking of using clear shelf liner (what my family calls Contact paper) to cover it--will it make the sign stiffer? In Jan my signs started curling. (does that make ANY sense???? :confused3).

:cheer2:We have another winner:cheer2: (my husband asked this question and was beginning to think no one was going to answer) He is big in to Trivia - he does it with the guests everyday so if you want a trivia time he is the person to ask!!

:lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:I just went on the disney cruise line site to double check the official Disney count for number of days left until the cruise (because my brain was getting scrambled) and they had a note after our room number saying that we could upgrade to a deluxe family suite with veranda for only $101.57 per person per day. Sounds great until you actually add it up. That is only an additional $2,800+ on to the cruise! I mean there are only the two of us. Why would we want to spend the extra money!!!:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Monica, I have never used contact paper but last year when I was at Office Max/Depot looking for laminate stuff for my magnets I saw they have some you use without a heat laminator. We have a laminator machine at work I can use so I just buy my own plastic stuff. But they have plastic that you don't have to have a machine to use. Do you understand what I mean? I just use regular paper to print and laminate and put magnet strips on the back. If you don't want to bother with the laminating, you could just use card stock to make it stiffer. I usually reuse my magnets so I like to laminate them. But if I have ones specific to the cruise I'm on, I might not bother.

Love the gold- it stands out.

Even on the Panama Cruise I did not feel I had enough time to do nothing at all. We were on the go everyday. Hopefully this time we can just sit and read and enjoy meeting with all the friends we made on this site

Yikes!

That's like some airlines. Sometimes when I check a reservation, there's a screen offering an upgrade of extra legroom or business class at an exorbitant price. No thanks.

Woody
