I'm curious about the dining rotation. Do we do the normal 7 day rotation twice?

No reason for the wanting to know other than I am curious.

Your rotation will repeat, the menus will be different.

Be sure to mention this again on the cruise, i live in The Netherlands so i'm more then willing to help you out with some suggestions and tips!!!

The Keukenhof is closed i believe in that time of year, if it's open there are no flowers anyway...
The blooming season is April.
The Anne Frank museum is very nice and almost a must see.
The other museums are great if you like it, i'm not a painting kind of person so for me it isn't my type of thing...
The red lights district is something that is nice to see for once but it isn't that special...

As i said the Anne Frank museum is almost a must do.
Delft is where i live so i've seen it all.
Madurodam is very nice but more for a longer visit then a 20 hour layover just because the fact that there is so many other things to see.

As i said i live in Delft so i'm willing to tour you around.
It depends on what day you are here because i work 2 days.
In Delft you can visit the Delft Blue Pottery museum and you can do a canal boat tour also in Delft (there is even a stop at the pottery museum).
I believe that the combination of Delft and the Anne Frank museum is to much for one day, so you have to make some decisions here.
If you decide for going to Delft maybe it's better to arrange a hotel in Delft instead of Amsterdam.

As i said, i'm/we are more then willing to give you some tips and tell stories about The Netherlands on the cruise.

Oh you are so gracious! I will try to get some time to ask some questions on the cruise. We know for sure our date: September 17th - it is a Friday - the day before the cruise - we get in by plane at 2 pm and will head straight to do stuff instead of heading to the hotel. We will be staying at the Courtyard that is about 15 minutes from the airport as they have a family room and a good price for it - other places we have to get 2 rooms and since we have an early morning flight (6:55 am) I want to stay close to the airport.

Where is the DCL desk at the airport? I never noticed it before.

It is at the end of the ME counters - and they may use them for ME when not doing the cruise - the CM directed me towards them and not in the ME que line.

We too were able to totally check in at the port, even got our lanyards there on our October 2009 cruise - but we had never been there that early before or we had stayed in the Hyatt.

:offtopic: Sorry to off topic BUT,
I just found out I am going to be a Grandpa again :thumbsup2:
o.k. we can go back to the trip talk :sail:

I'm not sure if this is right. It used to be this way, but in December we did not do one of the "standard" rotations. We had to check our KTTW each night! I don't remember how they changed it, but it was different.

As above, there will not be a repeat of menus or themes....there will be 14 different menus.

Ok so I have a question about the gym. At my gym at home your not allowed to wear "street" shoes so I have a pair I only wear at the gym. On the ship can I wear the one pair of tennis shoes I plan on bringing or do I have to have my actual gym shoes? :confused3

I plan on bringing one gym outfit in the hope that I'll actually see and use the gym :rotfl2: but was curious about the shoes.

They're not picky about your shoes. One pair of tennies for the entire cruise will be fine.

Disney has phenomenal children's programming and they NEVER cancel. My 13 year old daughter has been cruising with us on Disney since she was 3 (at least once a year) and we often travel off season with less kids. She actually liked it better with less kids because she had more access to characters, computers and cookies.... LOL. My daughter used to cry when we would pick her up at the oceaneer club and now that she is a teenager spends all of her time in the stack having a blast with kids her own age. No worries... there will be plenty for them to do!

Your daughter sounds like she's following in my DD's footsteps. We were on the maiden voyage, so she was in the OC at 7....celebrated her 13th birthday in The Stack and her 18th in Palo! Oh, and high school graduation gift was a cruise with her mom and 4 teen friends....not to mention the number of cruises in between these. Now she's not too happy that I'm cruising without her, but there's this college thing.

We too like cruising off season as there are fewer kids in all but the youngest age groups.

Last year we were able to check in at the airport. does anyone know if that is still available?:yay:

It is only available on some cruises. When I called about it before our September cruise, the CM acted like my brain had sprung a leak and assured me that it had never happened (sad when we know more than they do!). Since then, I've been able to determine that it is/was a pilot program in preparation for the increased number of passengers on the new ship. If I had to guess, I'd say not on this one due to the need to check passports on all passengers; they might feel better with their regular check in people doing it.

For poster a couple pages back....the DCL desk at MCO is the Disney Welcome Center, lower level, terminal B. One end of the long counter is DCL, the rest is Magical Express.

Amsterdam--oh my, I spent a week on 2 different occasions and didn't do it all. If I had to do it in one day, probably a canal boat ride and the Van Gogh museum. The Anne Frank house is really amazing, but the line to get in can be 2+ hours long. We went while it was raining, which shortened the line considerably! You can get a one day pass on the public transportation which will easily talk you all around the city.

And, I stand corrected. It IS only 19 pages per day.

thossink....congrats. Grandparenting is the best!! How many grand kids will this make for you?

Thank you so much. I guess I will jut check when we arrive. Do you know what time the ME starts running from the airport to the port. Our flight lands at 9am.

Ok, our DD7 will dress up...but it might be a fairy, which is pretty much a princess with wings right? :thumbsup2

My DD5 and DD7 will certainly want to dress up too, especially if there are other little girls dressing up! I wouldn't trust my DS3 to even keep any costume on for long enough to make it worthwhile to pack!

I am getting a bit concerned about the packing, what with formal wear, princess/pirate, swim wear, cool weather gear....not sure how we're going to get it all there, or else I'll need to get a 2nd job to pay all the baggage fees!!

We have a 4 year old son. Does anyone have any idea about the amount of children on board? ....................... Estimate?
