---It's a formal restaurant!

I know. But I thought someone had told me that it was a bit more relaxed for brunch. Like polos and khakis or something. We are definitely planning to dress up for our dinner. I guess we will just have to make sure we have something for brunch now too or just rewear what we are wearing for dinner.

---It IS ... you do not have to wear a tie! Polo's are a no-no at Palo's. On recent cruises, Palo's has left confirming voice mails for guests, reminding them of their reservation, as well as the dress code.

A little trivia (about all I'm good for :lmao:) .... the glass building at the end of that bridge is The Salvation Army's International Headquarters. :thumbsup2 I am a Salvation Army Officer and have also been on that bridge.

Hey, Brack, I have a lot of respect for the Salvation Army, and look forward to your telling me more about it!,

Coming out of my shyness-induced lurkerdom to find out if there are any runners planning on doing longer runs during the cruise. I'm hoping to do at least two in the 12 - 14 mile range and the thought of running 36 laps around the deck is mindboggling so I'm trolling for company!

This thread is the best - I read pretty much daily but am pretty shy online so I haven't posted (save for once, months ago, after a glass of wine for courage!). Can't believe we're less than a month out!!!

Here's some clarification regarding dress code at Palo's for Brunch. There's some personalities here that would like to bring up heated discussion about dress codes, and here are the facts, plain and simple.

From Disney's Website (http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/magic/dining/palo/)

At brunch and high tea, attire is cruise casual, meaning no shorts, jeans, swimwear or tank tops.

That doesn't say "YOU NEED A TIE" or "POLOS NOT ALLOWED". The dress code for brunch clearly indicates what is not allowed; therefore, what's not on the list would be inferred as allowed by definition.

Enjoy your group dining.

Where can I find a FE? Do not have talent to be creative and make one and can't sew
.
 It does not have to be fancy. It just needs to be a hanging pocket to collect gifts. On one cruise a friend hung a plastic bag from the grocery store. You could hang a little tote bag, a DCL plastic bag from Mickey's Mates--anything. The point is to have fun, not stress. :)

Seriously, I was trying to be helpful and convey information I received from DCL regarding Palo brunch, in their own words. The tone of discussions on this thread is becoming very discouraging to me lately.

You and me both. I wonder if I'll be thrown overboard if I'm in a polo shirt after 5pm. I'll be hiding in my room on formal night in case I get assaulted for not wearing a dark suit or a tux.

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: True, very true. Pants are quite a statement too!

Oh I know...especially the older ones......EEK GEEK!

Hi Scott & Joius! We're in scouting, too -- DS (8) just received his Bear badge last Sunday and will be participating in a Scout Shabbat tomorrow. I am a co-Den Leader snd the Pack Committee Chair.-- Adrienne : )

Awesome Arienne ! I think when the parent is involved,..it really helps the kids stay in it later on....We are doing the bike tour in one place and a walking tour in another.

Neat, a Scouting gang (it's not a gang it's a club). , youth then adult for nearly 50 years now (cripes, am I THAT old?).
Well, guess I'll go add info to the spreadsheet. And maybe your boys will make us some foil dinners at Castaway Cay (to get back on-topic):rotfl:

That will work...much better than a rescue at Sea :scared1:

Well, if we're bragging....3 (of my 5) sons are eagle scouts. So there. Actually, I'm not such a big fan of the program. Many things I really love, but I hate the exclusiveness.

I seriouly DO hear ya...but am refraining from comment here on the board LOL...Just trying to not add to any strong discussion....However ...I'd would be glad to have a discsussion with you onboard about some of that anytime.

Evan and I try to use what works for us and try to advocate for the stuff we think should change.

I definitely think we all should try to connnect at least once :) Even if to just share stories... :goodvibes

We get to make name tags for you, though, right? Although yours would be blowing past us during your runs. I think you were on the rarely-heard-from / are they still cruising list, but I'm moving you back to the Yeah! They get to sail! list.

Will you start off the cruise by doing the morning 5K on Castaway Cay (and then some)? Sometimes a CM leads the group - but if not, there is plenty of paved walkways with few people on them. You could just run up and down the runway over by Serenity Bay.

Lynne

Thanks - saved me from looking it up.

And note:

Open seating is available when dining at Palo for brunch, meaning you and your family are invited to dine at any table you choose.

Really? :confused3

Any table you chose? :confused3

----

As for dress code I thought Polo shirts were fine at Palo for brunch...I don't think DH has ever worn anything different?!?!?! :confused3

Also you don't have to have a jacket or a tie. DH has never worn a jacket to Palo dinner. I called and asked and they said a button up shirt is fine. He never brings a jacket on the cruises bc he brings his military uniform for formal night. I am all for dressing nice for Palo but DH has not worn a jacket or a tie and in 4 dinners this has never been a problem. Were there others who were more dressed then DH, yes but it was not a problem.

Are you doing one the rides for serious riders on Madeira?
No ....we are doing the one for the "touristy" riders in Cadiz....we are doing caves tour in Madiera. (dis excursion) My DS loves Caves

Are you doing the serious bike one?

Welcome Miss Erin ! (to posting out of lurking :))

Brack: I too have a great deal of respect for this organization. You must be proud to work for them.
