We are looking to book for next year, have seen the American posters talking about bounceback offers but I don`t really understand how it works.
So if we wait till our upcoming trip and book through Disney whilst we are there will there be a bit of a discount or will they just go by the rates on the website anyway.

I'm not sure but I think people get a card in their room with a bounceback code on it giving them a special offer - and the few people I've seen mentioning it have spoken about free dining, not sure if there are other deals too.

Seeing as UK Disney seems to have the Free Dining offer on a lot anyhow I'm not sure if it would be better booking direct with US Disney unless the exchange rate improved some more. Something to number crunch I suspect.

That will only work if there is a Bouncebook promotion running while you are there. The last time we went there wasn't, the time before there was. No way of knowing before you go unless a new promo starts before then and it is mentioned ont he boards. I think it's just the luck of the draw.

Good advice. Also bear the exchange rate in mind if you plan on paying your trip off over a period of time in US$. For me it would have to get quite bad, or else UK would need really good offers to make it better for me to book here. In the UK there is no way around it - DD goes pays an adult. Disney US: she is a child, even though I am the only adult. So it works out cheaper for me - usually. Still, always good to do some maths :teacher:

We had a bounceback offer in our room back in May. I was quite interested in this too after reading about it before we went. However, the one we got was only valid for a bounceback in the same year :( So unless we booked again for 2010 we couldn't use it :confused3

Just what I was going to say. We had a bounceback in our room in May two years ago, but it had to be used by September that year. I did call the number and ask if they would extend to the next year (well if you don't ask you don't get!!) but they wouldn't!

Rates for the following year are only announced in August so bounce back offered during any part of the year prior to free dining starting is often for the same year. Once the August free dining and room discount deals are actively running (i.e. you are there during those dates) then those deals will be the bounceback offers and will be for the following year during the same period. There are blackout dates that apply and travelling for longe stays as we do it can be quite limiting. Often there is a blackout period after every 5-10 day stretch so the only way to do it would be to make one booking with BB and then see if you could extend it or just make another booking to tag on. Not as easy as it could be in an ideal world - but then these offers cater for the majority of guests who stay for shorter periods than we do.

To get BB you have to take the offer before you check out. If there is no card in your room you can phone and ask if there are any special deals.

Most bounce back deals are a % off rack rates sometimes up to 45% off. During free dining it is usually free dining for the following year.

Don't forget us terms are much better than ours - room only deposit fully refundable up to 6 days before balance payable at check in ( unless booked online then it follows the package rules). Packages $200 deposit refundable unto 45 days out when balance is due.

This means you can book and then cancel with no penalty if you change your mind. :thumbsup2

Much nicer Ts&Cs for US bookings. What I was thinking of doing is booking if a good BB is out when we are there and then just loading my FairFX when the rates are good. As you say, with refundable deposit up to 45 days, if something better comes out on Disney UK or elsewhere, I can cancel with no penalty.

BB has pretty much been on offer every time we've stayed the last couple of years.
We are going to stay a night at disney next April just to get the BB for September to stay at the GF. (we don't want the free dining as we have DVC annual passes and will be staying at a few resorts).

We called when we were there in May this year just to see what sort of price they were offering for September and GF was $225 a night plus tax, which is a great rate, disney uk want around 300 pounds a night.

We will book and if an annual pass rate comes out cheaper we can cancel with no fee.

I have been reading another forum and have found out that free dining bounceback might be offered while I am there. They give free QSDP at values in the US and DDp at moderates but I think you have to pay full rack rates for the room.
Is there anyway of finding out what the room rates are:confused:

Try this link: http://www.mousesavers.com/roomrates2010.html

They are the 2010 rates. Just keep in mind that they charge a higher rate for Friday, Saturday and US holidays so it isn't as simple as the UK rates where they tend to charge per week or within a certain time frame.

Our week free dining at POFQ this year was booked as a bounce back. We did all the maths and the CM on the phone was so helpful, going through lots of different options with us. We booked it because we knew we could cancel if we got a better deal - as it turns out, we didn't!

Thank you all, some good advice in here, can't believe how much better the T and Cs for the USA are compared to ours.
Do you know what, I stupidly hadn't even considered the exchange rate before I posted here.
Definitely some food for thought for us now and some more research is required.

I always find better offers with Disney USA than i do with Disney UK. Even when the exchange rate was low.

Especially if you book through someone like Dreams Unlimited then they will keep and eye on any new discounts etc for you.
