The problem with this line of thinking is where is the cut off point of, "it's only x days?" If they do it for you at 3 days, what about 4, then 5, and so on. How pissed are you going to be if you read on here that they did it for someone at 8 days after they got back but they won't do it for you at 9 days? It's only 1 day different right? Once you make one exception, then all credibility goes out the window.
Exactly. That slippery slope is why they no longer do things like allowing items to be dropped off. Someone gets something - special and/or an exception - and someone else goes on and is all "I read it on the DISboards" (NOT cast or crew members' favorite words, BTW) and insists they get at least that and suddenly you've got what is essentially a full-time job or two for people to just sit and autograph items so dropping things off to get signed goes away. They start making exceptions to the onboard booking, word gets around, and then it has the potential to get to "Why even bother offering any deals on it?" and those go away. It could happen.
