Hi All, I'd love to stay in a 1 bedroom villa this coming summer. Besides location, can you tell me what the difference is between boulder ridge and copper creek 1 bedrooms? Were the boulder ridge rooms refurbished when they did the copper creek rooms? Thanks so much!

The Boulder Ridge Villas (BRV) were last refurbished in 2014. BRV is the new name for the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge (VWL).

Copper Creek Villas (CCV) was created when DVC took over the south wing of the main Wilderness Lodge building and converted those rooms to DVC Villas. CCV opened in July 2017.

The BRV 1-bedrooms are larger than those in CCV (727 sq ft vs. 680 sq ft).

BRV rooms are in a separate DVC building, and IMO in a much quieter environment than CCV rooms which are in the main Lodge. Studios are bigger as well, and the lake view is awesome.

During the cooler months I thought it was nice not having to go outside when going to a restaurant or lounge within Wilderness Lodge while staying at CCV. Most of the views at CCV are pool and many with lake view to the side. At BRV half the rooms have a lake/pool view and the others have bus station and garden views, although IMO the bus area is blocked by trees. The kitchen at CCV is long and also is a walkway to and from the front door. The kitchen at BRV is like the ones at BWV, BCV, and SSR, a small square with room for one person. The refrigerator is a full size at CCV and apartment sized at BRV. Both are great, just different. No matter which you stay at you need to go see the BRV lobby and the Carolwood Pacific room where some of Walt Disney's railroad items are shown.

Haven't stayed at BRV but we love the more modern decor at CCV and that huge, amazing tub in the 1BR. Our CCV 1BR was on the 4th floor and far enough from the elevator to be very quiet, plus our view was over the courtyard with the stream rather than the pool so that made it nice and peaceful as well. Loved seeing the main lobby with all its Christmas decorations every time we were coming and going (we were there in December), plus it was quite cold then so it was nice to be in the main building. Ultimately I don't think you can go wrong with either, since WL is so wonderful overall!

Just echoing what others have said because I have a lunch break at work, you can't go wrong with either. In short, Copper Creek rooms are newer but also smaller than comparative rooms at VWL. CC does have the convenience of being right in the main Lodge so close to the Mercantile, restaurants, and a bit closer to the boat dock (the bus stop is essentially equidistant between CC and VWL). Copper Creek also includes the last "C" in CCVC--cabins. There are 12 cabins on the north side of the main boat dock and 14 to the south side of it. They are gorgeous. . .and pricey both point-wise and OOP. Other than those cosmetic differences, both CC and VWL offer a more serene setting than most other resorts and a certain majesty of architecture you won't find anywhere else on property (including the sister resort, AKL).
