BOULDER RIDGE VILLAS & COPPER CREEK VILLAS & CABINS: Wilderness Lodge DVC Expansion Thread

Does anyone know how long the old faithful lounge will be in the hallway? Do to the fact it is being renovated. Not a very club level experience with lounge in a hallway lol. pretty sure this will also cause less of a spread do to the fact of space limitations

I spoke to a CM via the phone a few months ago, and she confirmed the boats would not be affected as this is a big deal for many people staying at WL ..I agree..Ill let you know in seven months time..lol..

We stayed club level last month and there were a lot less food offerings then usual. They only served cookies for dessert, no cobbler, for instance. They said that they plan to move into the VP suite sometime in February.

Thanks. Do you think the food offerings will be back to normal when they move it to the vp suite. Are all the views and seating areas on the 7th floor gone. Just wondering if the premium for club level is worth it for a trip in may

The view of Bay Lake from the current lounge location is blocked off, but the seating area still overlooks the lobby. The VP suite has a nice view of Bay Lake. They told us that they are taking out the seventh floor seating areas that overlook the lobby once they move out of the current location. I would think that the cl offerings would improve once it's moved, since they had to store so many of the food and beverage items in the honeymoon suites, which is why they were limited in the hallway location.

We originally had a return to WL CL planned for this month, but after seeing the current CL setting, we switched resorts. I truly don't trust them to have the new VP CL location up and running soon. Maybe they will and maybe they won't, but I don't want to be disappointed again, so we switched. The situation in May might be different, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Email response just received from WL IP -

"At this time we do not have any information regarding the move of the lounge offerings to the suite. It is still at the same temporary designated location."

Any updates on the club lounge? We will be arriving in a few weeks!!
They say the club level lounge is to be moved from hallway to vp suite sometime in February. As of right now food offerings are very limited. Hopefully that changes when moved to vp suite. Have a fun safe trip. Let's us know what you find during your trip.

My wife is more concerned with food offerings at breakfast was that limited too?

There were muffins, sweet rolls, bagels, croissants, cereal, oatmeal and fruit salad. They also served either a cheese and sliced ham platter or smoked salmon, but not both. You had to ask for orange juice or espresso. They only had coffee, milk, chocolate milk, hot water for tea and cold water out. You had to ask for all other beverages. I've never been at the lounge before, so I don't know what is the normal situation.

Thank you to @jade1 for posting these photos to the WL/VWL thread of the North Side construction. 12 cabins will be placed here along the shoreline facing toward MK.

Yet another closure. I have no idea whether VWL/WL guests will be allowed access/transportation to CR's or GF's gym.

Wilderness Lodge's Sturdy Branches Health Club
will be closed for refurbishment July - October 2016.

There go my hopes that all construction would stay outside of the villas building. :(

I wonder - do we just see a coincidence?

Can't remember the last time SB was renovated. We just don't use it. We don't even know if it is a "shared facility", or something just for VWL DVC members.

I still don't think that this is a big deal people. It's just the workout room. Who really uses it? Not that many people from what I see.

Ah, very true. This could be a scheduled renovation.
The facility is shared: used by both DVC and the main hotel alike.

I'm only concerned for those staying in the rooms near the villa's lobby: they already have a construction zone outside the windows, but to hear saws and pounding within the villas is more difficult to deal with if you're looking for a mid-day nap such as the younger kids and their parents need.

I can understand those concerns. I received a letter from the WL general manager and the promised no noise before 9am and all construct will end by 7 pm. I think that the health club is just a refurb. I'm not to worried about it.

Sturdy Branches received new flooring and equipment in 2012. A couple of years ago they removed some of the equipment and moved other pieces around. I use the gym everyday and stay at WL. If you're booked at WL or VWL, your MB or KTTW will open the door.

I don't believe this is a normally scheduled health club rehab since it will be closed for 3 months. They are doing something structural to that area which I'm guessing has more to do with the DVC expansion than with a simple gym update which normally takes much less time.

Good Morning -
I was able to get this earth view snapshot of Wilderness Lodge that was taken as of 2-5-2016. I think the exterior construction is becoming more clear now. My interpretation of this clearly shows that yes, indeed, they appear to be prepping the (old) beach area for what I have heard will be a Bar/Grill or Restaurant type building in this area. The land to the north of the lodge along Bay Lake certainly appears to be cleared for more than just the Water Side Cabins but also some type of potential parking area, possibly even a small parking garage from documents that we revealed earlier by wdwkook. It just appears to me that this amount of cleared land was not necessary for just cabins. And as we all know with the "old" Quiet Pool demolished, the adjacent land clearing would certainly suggest a larger pool footprint along with the hot tubs, community hall and whatever else in additional buildings certainly seems to have a large amount of land to build this now. Anyways, thought you all would be interested in seeing what is up from this perspective at the Lodge.Near Map - Wilderness Lodge 2-15-2016.JPG
