Boulder Ridge Refurb Has Begun!

We're trying to figure out whether to gamble on a 1br with a murphy, or just get a 2br to guarantee us that extra bed. Is there an option to request not being on the 5th floor/request a room w/ murphy bed if we try for a 1br? Or just not risk it and get the 2br?

The Murphy bed in the BRV 1BR replaced the sleeper sofa, there was not an additional bed added. I may be misunderstanding you, however even after the refurbishment there’s one king bed and one full/queen Murphy bed. Even if you get a 1BR on the 5th floor, you’ll have a new pullout sofa.

Correct. You still get the same number and size of sleeping surfaces.

We would be okay on the number of sleeping surfaces. I've just heard not great things about the pullout sofas at Disney (even if it is new) compared to the murphy (which many people like). Has anyone slept on the new pullout to see if it's any good?

Edit: I can see why my question was confusing. In reference to the "extra bed" in the 2br, I meant in case we get a stuck w/ a pullout as opposed to the murphy.

We were in 5541 in November. Surprises me that we took few pix of the room, but here's one of the sofa and dining room table. I think I like the old table arrangement better, but YMMV.

At least the new dining table arrangement looks like it could seat 3 or 4 people, or up to the original capacity of the 1BR, which was 4. Forget seating 8, the original capacity of the 2BR, for a meal together! That's the major deficiency of DVC compared to other timeshares - if the capacity of the villa is 6 or 8, there's a dining table and chairs for that many people.

Well, the new arrangement at least seats 4 at the table, instead of 2. With the the two stools at the kitchen counter, you can seat 6 for a meal together.

I watched a room tour and was pleasantly surprised that there was still theming going on...given some of the other recent refurbs. This is definitely a win!

The one thing I can't get over is that there's a problem opening the refrigerator door all the way because the oven interferes. if you move the fridge over, the door won't close because of the wall. How do you make that mistake?

Otherwise, I'm very happy with what they've done! We're there 3/22-26 but in a studio. Fingers crossed we'll get to see a refurbed room.

Our fridge opened and closed just fine. There was/is room for both appliances to fit properly in the space provided. They were still walking the building this week doing punch-list items, so if guests just let them know, they can adjust it. In the WDWNT tour video, you can clearly see there is plenty of room on the oven side of the fridge to move it over a bit. It's on rollers, so no biggie. Ours did need some leveling to be sure.

Both appliances are being re-used, the wall next to the fridge hasn't been moved, and the countertop next to the oven is the same size as before.

That dates back to the 2014 refurb. We were in a room just after that one and the fridge size was not an exact replacement to what was there originally. Probably part of the whole appliance manufacturing size changes for fridges that I've run into issues with in my own homes in the past. Or just a mis-order. The fridge needed to be pulled out from the back wall a little further than normal to be able to open without hitting the wall. The wall and fridge were already damaged in the room we were in.

This is a great 30 minute walk through of a 1 bedroom.
And a short walk through of a 2 bedroom that was posted on the previous page of this thread.

We’re in a 2 bdrm in May…can’t wait to see it! In all of our years as DVC members I’ve only ever requested “not first floor” but I think this trip I may add “not 1st or 5th floor” simply because I want to see/try the Murphy bed!
Can someone refresh my memory where the grills are? I remember they were fairly close to the old quiet pool but I’m drawing a blank as to where they are in relation to the new pool….could be because we haven’t stayed at our home resort since 2017 😳
