the crystal lite, koolaid or tea single packets? I read somewhere on these great boards about saving tons of money on drinks if you just use a brita water filter bottle and to give you a change from water take some single packets of crystal lite, koolaid, or tea. The problem is I can't find these single packets anywhere. Where are you finding these. All I can find are the normal 2 quart mixing tubs no singles. So help!!!!! TIA

I know you can buy the crystal light single packs at Wal-mart. They come in a box (small) I'm not sure how may are in the box... maybe 8.

The Big Lots here has orange Gatorade flavored mix in single packets that will make one quart for 25 cents each. I bought a lot of these, as we'll be adding it to our water bottles for the extra flavor. You could probably split one packet between two bottles and make it work---that is, if you can find this stuff. I'm sure most Big Lots vary in their inventory, but this was a great find for me! Good luck!:wave2:

I also bought the Brita bottles. Don't forget not to put the Kool Aid, Gatorade or whatever in the water bottle with the filter in. It will gunk up the filter and end up tasting like water. You have to get a cup or separate water bottle and put in the packet and then pour water from the Brita into it. The Brita filters the water as you drink it.

Hi 3boysluvndisney..Where did you buy the Brita water bottles & how much did they cost? Thanks for the information!!

I bought the bottles at Wal Mart and they were $6.49. They were with all the brita stuff (faucet filters, etc.).

So you can't mix the crystal lite, etc. in a cup and then pour it into the brita bottle? I thought you could do that but maybe I misunderstood. Can someone clarify this for me?

Thanks!!

The filter in the Brita bottles works two ways to remove the nasty stuff from water. One action it takes is an ion exchange which is sort of like a magnet for chemicals like mercury, copper and zinc.

The other action it takes is the use of a carbon filter to remove particles and larger molecules like toluene. It's this carbon filter that will also filter out the sugar and other components found in Kool-aid and Crystal Light.

If you want to use filtered water for making those drinks, just put the water into the Brita bottle and squeeze it out the top into a cup. You can then mix it in the cup.

If you want to carry a bottle of Kool-aid around, you need to either remove the Brita filter from the bottle or else use a different bottle.
