Bought paper tickets...now what?

I bought tickets for our Fall trip. I was emailed the tickets and they are also in my wallet in my UO account. When I get to the parks, do I show them the tickets in the app or paper tickets? And if I make a virtual line pass, what do we use to get in to the line? Is it the app? Do I need a plastic card? Can I scan my phone? How does all of this work?

You should be able to use either the printed paper tickets or the tickets in the app right at the gate - it is probably a good idea to have a printed copy in case the app decides to be wonky (uncommon, but better safe then sorry).

You get the virtual line pass on the app and also use the app to show the virtual line pass at the attraction. So most of the time, you really don't need anything other than your phone (and ID and credit card). It's quite convenient.

Ok, I see. Thank you. We're going for 4 days so I'll keep the paper tickets dry in a ziploc bag and keep them with me just in case. And I'm assuming that I can show the app only on one phone for all 6 of us - for park entry and also virtual line pass? Each person doesn't have to show their line pass/ticket? I'm used to magic bands at Disney but I don't know how Universal works.

Each ticket will have it's own barcode. The tickets will be paired with the individual owner's fingerprint. Check that the tickets are labelled for each person in the app. You can use the same phone but it will be scanned individually for each person at the gate.

Virtual line just says "6 guests" or some such, so you just need the one phone / one pass for everyone in the party.

I haven't downloaded the app yet, but I will do that soon. Thanks for your help

i have a similar newbie question. got tix by email and see the following:

Email

Simply go to the park entrance (for Walt Disney World theme park, water park or special event tickets) or venue entrance (for NBA Experience tickets) and tap your MagicBand or card linked to your Disney account to enter. Otherwise, you’ll need to show your confirmation email at the entrance, plus:
* the original credit card, Disney Gift Card or Disney Rewards Redemption Card used during this purchase
* a valid government-issued photo ID

so when it says tap your card linked to your disney account does that mean you scan the credit card you bought the tickets with and you just get let in?

i guess i need a first grader lesson as i dont wanna wait in the wrong line/staging area etc needlessly. the park dates etc go show on my app but i dont see any way to scan anything from the phone

I am assuming from your post these are Disney tickets (in this universal forum). Do you have magic bands? If so, you can link your tickets to your account on MDE. Then you just touch your magic band to the turnstile to get into the park.

no bands. in the app i can see my daily reservations and when i click on tickets our names are both there but theres nothing 'scannable' for anyone to scan in. ive also just discoverd RFID cards are available. i just want to avoid having to show a printed email bar code, credit card, and ID at a turnstile to get in everyday. i guess the bands get around that and the rfid as well

can you use both MB and rfid to pay for all your purchases in the parks?

You cannot use the card to pay for your purchases. The cards are only for tickets and FP (not now, obviously). You can only use your magic band to pay for purchases if you are staying at one of the Disney resort hotels, where you would link a credit card.

As for the cards, you can get one at guest services at any Disney hotel or at Disney Springs. I believe you can also get them at guest services inside a park, although that would mean you would have to show the email to get into the park the first time. So if you have time, you may want to get them before you go to your first park, if you are able to.

any idea if thru the rear entrance of epcot (we would walk over from swan) we can get our ticket card there. could do that on arrival afternoon. or maybe swan has the card or MB even.

but absent any other thing we do we are gonna have to show bar code , ID and CC i guess. which seems like a pain.

I'm sorry, I don't know the answer to that. My family always stays offsite and I've never gone through that Epcot entrance. Perhaps someone else could help out with that answer. You could also call the Swan and ask them.

I haven't been to WDW since 2019. Back then they had a ticket and guest relations area at the rear entrance of Epcot (aka the International Gateway). I'm assuming it is still there, especially with the entrance being a drop-off point of the Skyliner.
