how sad is that?!

i bought my mom a gift. i bought my mother in law a gift. so what the heck, i went out and bought an expensive outfit, brought it home and told my husband to help the kids wrap it.

it's the right size, right color and i love it! is this sad?
does anybody else do this?

i will admit, the one time i was bothered by not having a mother's day gift was 2 wks after my first child was born. i got nothing, not even a card. my husband's response "but you're not my mother". he really was clueless about the whole thing until my sister and sisters in law ganged up on him and made him realize the error of his ways!

I bet the outfit looks great. Sometime's you have to take things into your own hands.

Happy Mother's Day to you!

You're letting him off WAY too easy!! ;)

I usually wait until after the day because it's hit or miss around here. Sometimes he really puts a lot of thought into what I'd like/want and gets something really great. Other times he's stressed at work or too busy and I can tell that it was a last minute thing.

Sometimes I go and get some small little thing for myself. Nothing big but something that I've wanted (one year it was some bath salts that I've wanted that DH wouldn't even have known about). I don't make a big deal out of it, there's no reason to make him or DDs feel bad. It just makes me happy and it's my little celebration of my own motherhood.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you!:goodvibes

I think if you got something you wanted and are OK with having it be from the kids and DH, that's fine. Each family should celebrate they way that make them happy, be it mom buying her own gift or the children making something. One thing I do disagree with is wives who get upset if they don't get a gift from their husband on Mother's Day when they have no kids! I can see a DH giving the gift as celebrating the mother of his kids, but if there are no children....................

Whether it be Mother's Day or not.

I periodically buy gifts--To me, From me, With Love.

that is what I tell the salesclerk when making my purchase.
