I've had my Sizzix machine for about a month now and I REALLY like it, BUT I got it because I wanted the shadowbox letters. Since I can't afford to fork over more than 200 bucks for the whole box I was going to buy them individually at Michael's with the 40% off coupon. Well the first 3 weeks, Michael's didn't have a coupon and when they finally did have one, they decide not to sell the letters individually right now! Needless to say, I was a little upset! Oh well, guess I'll find something else I can use with it.

it's not Michaels that have changed, it's sizzix - they are no longer selling the letters individually, they are only available by the box. i think for a couple of months you can order any missing letters you need direct from sizzix but they are discontinuing them.

try www.scrapbookmagicstore.com I paid around $100 a set for my serif alphabet which is much cheaper than buying them individually even with a 40% coupon. they are not online, you will need to email her for more details.

or, if you like a different look, then the new sizzilits look great, and they are much cheaper than the original alphabets

Thanks for the info! I'm sorry for blaming Michaels ;) I hate that they are changing but I love the new alphabets, especially the "girls are weird" one. Now that's a deal for Sizzix standards, complete set including numbers for $150! Do you know if the letters are a little smaller than the other alphabets (lollipop, serif) It says there are 4 shapes on one die and by the measurements they gave it seems a little small.

They were made to compete with QuikKutz. They are a great deal!

If I remember correctly, they are 5/8 inch tall.

I was personally thrilled when Michael's finally got the boxes in! It is a savings to have the whole box (I think). I know I used my coupon and bought the shadow set...saved $100 (you notice I am not mentioning how much I spent - LOL). Could you put $10 a week away, until you had enough for what you wanted. I know...patience isn't one of my virtues!

Good luck getting all you want. I really love my Sizzix!

check out
www.creativexpress.com for individual letter on sale the same price as Mikes w. a coupon! I have a sale code if you need it too -they give an additional 15% off new customers.

I have about 9 letters of the shadow now -
good thing my Mikes still has some and I figure I can live without a few letters, and others can be used to ways - EX: M can be W and L can be cut to make the I.
At least I can spell my kids names lol

Thanks Patty! That is so tempting but in the back of my head I think I might put back and buy the whole box. I'll definitely keep that page bookmarked- they have some good deals!

Unfortunately when I started buying my letters Mikes didn't even have the box set available ! ! I REFUSE to spend Full price through a website ! I figured it out and it is $30 cheaper if you buy the box with the coupon over the individuals with coupons over time - so I hope that helps to justify it for ya! :)

I actaully debated returning all my individuals to get the box - but I don't know where half the receipts are so I won't deal with the hassle :)

Not to divert the converstion but I noticed that Michael's prices are going way up even with the 40% coupon. I bought my Sizzix machine there and thankfully had the 50% coupon but it was retail at $120 and I got it for $60 and I check the Sizzix site and they show retail at $79.99. The other day I bought a Xyron machine and now I wish I could return it. I found that the one on QVC is much cheaper even with the coupon. The Xyron 510 in my store is $109 and comes with one cartiage. On QVC they had a special for $36 (plus or minus) but normal price is $41 something. Which includes 3 cartiages. Sorry I am not seeing the saving with the coupon anymore.... Maybe the prices are only going up in California.... I was a little frustrated with Michaels that I ended up buying the Xyron 900 because it was only $20 more than the 510 and I couldn't justify spending that much on a smaller machine. Hopefully, I am not imagining this price shift...

Sizzix has a special running this month for the "Sizzix Sampler Set". It's $71.99 and includes the machine and 3 dies (Rectangle Frame, Star Border and Butterfly #3). And they also have everything 10% off this month - so through tomorrow. And if you spend $100 or more shipping is free - that's just a few extra dies if you go for the sampler set...

I just bought my Xyron 510 at Joann Fabrics. It was $49.99 and I used a 50% coupon and got it for $25. If you don't have a Joanns, you can check the website

Try eBay, I am pretty sure I've seen the letters there. (I am not a sizzix user so have not paid much attention..)

try to write a letter to the company (michaels) see if they will let you return without the reciept? It can"t hurt.
