Best Buy had a deal on the Sony Alpha 300 so I broke down and bought it yesterday. It came with the standard lens and the 75 - 300 mm lens. It answered my previous question about lenses now to save up for the little extras. I just hope I can live up to my expectations of what I want when I take a picture with it now.

Congratulations! Just don't expect too much from yourself all at once. I expected AMAZING pics when I first got my xsi, and I had- and still have- a lot to learn before I can do what I want to do with it.

Congratulations on the new camera! It's a perfect time to buy the Sony as I noticed they have just started a good sale on their DSLRs. I saw in your other thread that you are looking to do some indoor action shots. You'll get the best results on those by having a fast lens - perhaps a zoom with a constant 2.8 aperature or another pretty inexpensive option would be to purchase a used auto focus Minolta 50mm 1.7 lens. You can easily find those on ebay or another place I have used is KEH.com. You would probably pay a little over $100 depending on the condition. A nice short range zoom is the Tamron 17-50mm 2.8 but that will depend on how much reach you need for the indoor shots.

Enjoy taking pictures!
