Do people eat American cheese in other countries??? :confused3 ;)

...and if so, do they call it American cheese, or something else? :scratchin

:rotfl: Probably not. American is pretty bottom-of-the-barrel when it comes to cheese. Seriously, if you lived in France would you eat our cheese?

Noooo...I wouldn't! We don't even usually eat it here! But I know it's a kid-pleaser, maybe it's considered "exotic?"

Hahaha...exotic, lol.

I dunno...I couldn't do without my American cheese sandwich.

Maybe they call it processed cheese??

Think they have cheez-whiz?

Is American cheese those little orange squares wrapped in plastic? I think it's called processed cheese here. DH makes me buy the non-fat one to make grilled cheese.

Or Velveeta???

What we need is an overseas DISer to help us answer this question!

Anyone? :rolleyes1

The package of Kraft American Cheese calls it:

Oh i love velveeta - especially on a burger or a grilled cheese made with it...mmmMMM :thumbsup2

I worked with a girl who was from China - only been here a few years.

Loved cheese - not necessarily even American Cheese. Just anything with, or any kind of cheese.

Said they did not have as vast a cheese selection, at all, in China. Couldnt remember even ever having bought cheese in China.

She also said Crab Rangoons, Fried Rice and Eggrolls - none of them are legit. ;) Never heard of any of them until she moved here. :teeth:

From what I've heard a lot of Chinese food has been "Americanized" I know there is one restaurant here that has a seperate menu for their Asian customers that is more authentic.

American cheese is gross. I hate that it's called "American" because many fine cheeses are made here in the US, certainly not that nasty processed stuff. Blech! It gives us a bad rep!

Won't eat American cheese unless it is at BK or MD or such. Far prefer other good cheeses both from the US and overseas. Love Norwegian Gjetost, Emmenthal, Port Salut, and many other foreign cheeses.

I like American Cheese. Velveeta is the best!

We also eat Kraft macaroni and cheese. It's the cheesiest! :)

Have tried "real" cheeses, don't like 'em. The Frech can have them!

OK, so it's not real cheese, but it does look good on a cheeseburger. And let's face it, it's definitely a step up from Velveta. :teeth:

In France they put it on a hamburger and you know they call it? A Royale with cheese. :smooth:

I love American cheese! Not the processed singles but real, from the deli American!

Yes, people in Italy do eat American cheese and it is manufactured by Kraft.

I remember my English ex-boyfriend going off on the subject, but I can't remember exactly what he called it. I think he called it orange cheese.

"Why do you call it American cheese? It's not just American, you know." :lmao:
