Bought a Sleep Number bed!!

We just got back from buying a sleep number bed. It is the P5 model and has an adjustable base (head and feet move). It wasn't quite so budget... but it was on sale this week until President's day.

I have a bad back and I toss and turn. So we are hoping this bed helps!

I'll let you know! I have a bad back and we think it is from our bed which is very firm. When I first layed down on the sleep number bed at the store, they have it hooked up to a computer where you can see the pressure points on your body. I had a big red blob right where my back hurts. Then they adjusted the bed down (to 25) and I saw the red blob disappear! I hope it really does relieve the pressure on that spot in my back (tailbone area).

We bought one a few years ago thru craigslist and we still love it.

We didn't want to spend the big bucks on it and then not like it but now we wouldn't hesitate to spend that now. DH already said when we finally get our camper we are buying one for it as we can't live without one now. It is tough going to Disney and leaving it behind.

I like my side of the bed at 50 and DH keeps his around 30 or less.

I have one that my friend GAVE me-- it had cost her almost 3500 and was only 2 years old. She "upgraded" to something else. I LOVE it and sleep like a rock!!!!!

I hate to say, but I'm less than happy with ours. I begged my boyfriend to get a new bed. It's a queen from QVC. I think it was about $2000 so it is a good one. I just don't like it. I have to keep it above 90 or I get back spasms, which was never a regular problem for me before. Also, with the 2 chambers I'm always rolling in the middle. I think it would be better if it was a king size, but we didn't have the room. The display on the controller on my side also doesn't work about 75% of the time. Luckily I "commute" to my bf's house only on weekends and am totally happy with my old $400 inner-spring at my house!

We love ours. We bought the P5 queen with the pillowtop and i think we paid about $1700 for it. We have also more recently bought the king. Definitely worth it for us. No more backaches and we can adjust the firmness whenever we need to.

Hope you like it!! Some people don't, but we have two, and love ours!!! Upgraded models, so the old one is in the guest room. I have a hard time sleeping on regular mattresses now. Somtthing to note...it may take you several nights before you find a number that works for you. When we first got ours, it took me about two weeks before it was perfect. So be patient! But it is worth it!

on this subject before. I'm one that hates mine. Have had it since 2006 and have had to rebuild it. First time was due to black mold issues (warrantied) between the air chambers and foam. Was horrible to take it apart and find this but it had been a problem they were aware of and replaced all pieces no charge. Then the mattress topper and foam started to break down and crack...prorated and it cost me about 100.00. Then the plastic side rails cracked and prorated again and it cost me about 80.00 to replace. The 20 year "warranty" was not explained to us that it is prorated. The gap between the two air chambers is never fixable...always there. Hopefully they have fixed some of these issues and you will have good luck with yours. I can't wait to finally give up and replace it with something else.

Well, we got a king size. So hopefully the space between the two sides won't bother us?? DH and I also seem to be pretty close in sleep number. I have heard that it is especially a problem when the sleep numbers are significantly different.

How did you know that you had mold between the chambers? Is this something we should keep an eye out for? How would we check?

We have hard ours for 10 years and Love Love Love it. The only bad thing about it is when we travel I miss it. I wish all hotels had them.

How did you know that you had mold between the chambers? Is this something we should keep an eye out for? How would we check?

We have the queen plus and our numbers are 40 and 50. Matching numbers never solved the air chamber gaps for us and as a side note, we are not big people. We found the black mold when we noticed the air chambers were shifting and unzipped the top mattress. It was horrile....the bottom side of the foam was covered in it. I was told it was due to a lack of chemical treatment they use...sure makes me wonder what we are sleeping in. Hopefully they have ironed out all the issues.

I am another person who doesn't like the Sleep Number bed. I am finally getting rid of mine this week. There were several people I work with that bought the beds the same time I did, and I am the lone ranger who still has it. I, too, have the gaps between the chambers that have never been rectified. The air chamber for one side doesn't work right again, and I am tired of the issues with this bed. I also found that it does the opposite for me. My back hurts all the time with this bed. It definitely was not worth the $1,800 price tag.

We have had ours for 11 years-DH has disc trouble and doenst ever sleep well on anything else. never had issues with the seperatation or the chambers not working well-the only problem i have ever had is that when he is deployed if i dont keep his side of the bed set to my sleep number i have some issues with a valley developing.

Us too! I don't know how I ever lived without it! We have a king, no issues with rolling. I keep mine at 70 and hubby's side is at 30. We both sleep great. Have no air chamber issues. No mold issues. We've had ours for about 7 or 8 years now and I think it'll go strong for years to come. We bought a refurbished one for $1100.

We love ours! Got it 11 years ago when I was pregnant. I was having horrible hip and back pain on our old matress. I loved that as I "changed and grew" I could adjust the mattress. We will never by any other type of mattress. We did have the "middle valley" issue at first, but after a while it resolved itself.
