Hi
bought a place holder last Thursday aboard the dream was used to ( pre covid ) to book with a cast member not buying a place holder so not so use to this
if I remember correctly the cast member told me I’d receive the code via email in a few days
still a no snow
also not charged yet on my cc
have you experienced this also ? How long before you got your code ?

It has been taking a week or so after the cruise debarks for some to receive the email. You can also check your DCL account and see if it's listed yet.

But I haven’t been charge yet on my cc ? So this is what is worrying me
I think I did this place this place holder at guest relation like last Wednesday or Thursday 🤔

Now that they don't have anyone at the "Future Cruise" booking desk, I believe they don't process the placeholders until after the ship docks and that paperwork gets shifted to an onshore office. When did your cruise end? You might want to call DCL if you think it has been too long.

Keep checking, but don't wait too long. I made a placeholder back in October and shoreside never got the paperwork from the ship staff, so it never went through. After about a week, I had my travel agent call them and fix it and they basically just started over, as if I'd never filled out the placeholder card onboard. So, basically, they lost my paperwork!

It all worked out, though.

So in January 2022, I bought the placeholder and my TA had it on Thursday while we were still on the Dream. Not sure if it was same day or I had purchased on Wednesday...but either way, it was before docking.

Sidebar.... someone indicated to me that placeholders can only be used on 7 night or longer sailings. I couldn't find anything that supports that. I know it can't be used on Guarantee or Concierge and in theory 1 or 2 nights but did it expand to only allow 7 night or longer?

Placeholder benefits:
  • 10% discount off prevailing rates as quoted on Disneycruise.com
  • Reduced deposit on 7-night or longer sailings (probably what they were thinking about)

So you can use it on any length just 7 nights or longer your deposit is reduced, right? Making sure I understand everything.

Yes. However, there may be blackout dates on which placeholders can’t be used. Historically, these blackout dates have been new and special itineraries, such as ship launches and cruises on holidays.

Be sure to follow up. I had booked a placeholder last October and got the confirmation email with reservation number. I tried to use it last week and the cast member couldn't use it. Apparently they never debited my credit card and per the supervisors had been too long pending payment so they forfeited the whole thing!

Once the transaction has gone through, the $250 charged to your credit card will "hold" the 10%discount on a future cruise for the next 2 years. Once you call and book a cruise, the $250 will go towards the deposit. Your actual deposit depends on the cost of the cruise. You can book any length of cruise and get the 10% discount. If you book a 4 night and deposit is $500, you would still owe another $250 on the day booked. If it is a 7+ trip, and the deposit could be $1000 but reduced to $500 as a placeholder benefit, you would only have to pay another $250 the day you book. You still owe the money, but it can be paid at a later date. If you don't book a cruise within the 2 years, Disney returns the $250.

My placeholders never were charged to my credit card and I never got an email. Contact your Travel Agent or DCL and explain. They let me buy them after the fact since they have been having some technical issues with placeholders purchases in the app going through.

Just have my TA message me back
they said ( dcl ) could take up to 2 weeks to get email for the placeholder
so she will call back next Thursday if by then we have no news

Just to confirm, everyone that had an issue was able to get it resolved?

I got off the Magic on Monday and booked a placeholder while I was on the cruise. I emailed my TA and asked her to confirm all was good. She reached out to me yesterday and said DCL shows no record of it and my credit card has not been charged. She said they are researching.

I have no receipt or record of it. Has me nervous. 10% off of DCL is something I don’t want to miss out on!
