Bottled Water question

I see a number of things about being able to buy bottled water for the ship, or some people wanting to bring it on board in their carry on (which I think is allowed). My question is why bottled water?

I mean, I get the convenience of having it for excursions and some people prefer bottled, but is the water on the ship potable (drinkable)? Also, is there not a water tap at the soda fountains? I'm a water drinker, so this is important to me.

Also, if I decide to bring water on board, anyone know how many bottles are allowed?

There is a filtered water spot on the soda machines upstairs. Some people just prefer bottled water. Problem is that Disney charges a ridiculous amount for it. If you fly into Orlando, it is hard to buy some before the cruise. I don't think there is a limit on how many bottles you can bring onboard, but you have to hand carry it and the limit is how much you can shove in your carry-on bags. We just use the filtered water on the soda machines and never have a problem. It is all preference.

Personally, I think the water on the ship is very good. We bring our own water bottles to fill with the ship's water to take on excursions. We bought bottled water our first cruise, never again.

However, some people have to get the bottled water package for health reasons, so sometimes there is a need.

The water on cruise ships makes me swell up really, really bad. So I pack bottled water. The water and ice on board taste just fine.

I ordered these bottles called S'well bottles. Saw on a video posted by other cruisers that these stainless steel bottles are really nice. They will hold all the usual, ice water, hot coffee or tea(iced or hot), hot chocolate and SODA, as long as you don't shake the bottle causing pressure. Most bottles will not hold carbonated beverages so this is s plus. The website states to keep the beverage ice cold ( or very hot) for 6 hours, cold for 9 hours and cool for 12.
Another thing, noticed the bottles were much more expensive on Amazon than on the S'well site.

I had no issues with the water either from the stateroom or in the dinning rooms.

DH and I bought the bottled water package (6 pack I believe) for our first cruise (without the kiddos) and what a waste. We ended up only using 2 and refilling them at the drink station on the upper deck. We are bringing our own water bottles next time to use in ports.

DH and I bought the six pack for our 3 night cruise and left behind 2, I think. I would buy them again. It was nice having the bottles waiting in the stateroom and we kept them cold in the fridge. I'm sure we will use all six over a 7 night cruise. The convenience was nice but not cheap.

We buy the water package because 1) The patch makes me VERY thirsty and I drink A LOT of water when I cruise. 2) We fly in from the west coast so carrying on a flat of water isn't practical.

I drink the water in the dining room and from the soda station without issue. But I have this thing about filling my water bottle from the same sink that people are brushing and spitting.

Every time I cruise DCL I bring a case of water. I check it with the porter when I unload the car (I live in Orlando, so we drive ourselves and pay for parking). I don't put it in the luggage. We just attach a luggage tag right to the case of water. I have read that you are not supposed to put it in your luggage and that they may or may not deliver it to your stateroom if you try to check it. I have never had a problem with it and it always turns up in my stateroom. However, if for some reason it does not make it there or gets "confiscated," then I am only out about $5.00 for the case of water from Costco. No big loss.

I'm not sure when the last time you were able to check a case of water was, but DCL's policy is that all beverages must be brought onboard in your carry on bags. Yes, the porters are not going to jeopardize a tip by saying "no" when you ask them to take it (they don't work for DCL), but I wouldn't count on it making it to your room this way.

As I stated, I don't "count on it" making it to my stateroom. I said that it is "no big loss" if it doesn't make it to the stateroom, but it is worth the $5 gamble to me (after all, it's the only gambling I will get to do on a Disney cruise :love1:). If it gets to the stateroom, great. It will save me about $4 every bottle I buy. If it doesn't get to the stateroom, then I lose the $5 I spent.

Well, the great news is if your water gets crushed and spills all over someones luggage causing damage, your luggage tag is right there so they know who to charge for the damages. :thumbsup2 You will be our your $5 AND the cost of the damages.

I like to have a few bottles of water and soda for excursions that we can take with us & not have to worry about needing to find our brands whiles we are ashore. Onboard we just use whatever is in the soda machine, including the water.

No need to be snarky. I don't hide it in luggage. It is clearly a case of water. It's far more likely (or at least just as likely) that someone's shampoo, cologne, lotion, or other liquid packed inside their luggage will get crushed and leak.

Disney would get charged not the water owner..

It's been reported at least once that damage done to luggage/belongings in damaged luggage due to broken wine bottles was charged to the person's whose wine it was. I would think the same would apply to water.
