Hey guys...quick question.
How do you wash bottles in the hotels? I can pack a bottle brush but what about the soap part of the whole thing? Do they sell dish soap at the resorts?
Thanks!
Diana

Palmolive (I believe) makes soap "wipes". Perfect for travel...and one wipe can do a whole load of dishes. I bring them along for our refillable mugs. Just throw several in a baggie.

Shut up! That's GREAT! I love technology...dish detergent wipes...That's fantastic. I really hadn't ever heard of them! They will be in my suitcase for SURE!
Thanks a ton!
Has there ever been a question that hasn't been answered on this amazing board?

Because with my luck the thing will leak EVERYWHERE. I'd rather not take that chance.
I guess if I can't find the wipes I'll have to make a quick run to Publix or Target. (any excuse to go to Target!)

Pack things that might leak (like detergent, shampoo, etc) inside a zip-lock bag. If it does leak it'll be contained. Jarred babyfood can be packed in tupperware in case of breakage. We usually only bring a few jars just in case when we travel, so they don't take up too much room.

Diana-those wipes are great-really soapy. You shouldn't have any trouble finding them-grocery stores, CVS, Walmart....

You may also be interested in Table Toppers . They are just about the best thing ever for a baby starting to eat solid food. They have adhesive strips and stick to the table top. So baby can eat off of these and not the table YUK but they can't pick it up and throw it on the floor.

You'll have a great trip with your baby!

That's GREAT! Those table toppers sound like a wonderful idea.
Anyone have any experience with those bibsters disposable bibs?
Thanks so much guys!
Diana

I used those dish wipes when we were there in Feb. to wash me dd's sippy cup and the refillable mugs. They worked GREAT! I was so glad I took them. I think I could have done a whole load of dishes at home with the amount of suds they put out, lol!! They are worth every penny!

Wow, those table toppers sound great. I've been letting my kid eat off of tables. I just try not to think about it......... Denial is sometimes all you can do.

The bibsters are good, my DS had no prpblems with them my DD just pulled them off. But that's my girl;)

My DD pulls them off too but I'll still take them. I'm not taking cloth bibs on vacation!

The Table Toppers aren't cheap but they are really great. It helps contain the mess too! The only place they didn't seam to stick was at Flame Tree BBQ but it was really COLD the day we were there so maybe that was why or the material the tables were made out of?

Since we're talking about disposable stuff here....lots of people seem to really love the disposable sippy cups but my kids hate them-said they didn't work very well. I tried and they are really hard to drink from. I did however like the disposable feeding spoons made by the same company and they also make feeding bowls with lids and snack cups. I had several spoons with me since my baby was happiest if she could play with one or two in her hands while I fed her with another spoon.

Have to second a bunch of recommendations here! I use the Table Toppers, Bibsters, Take & Toss spoons ALL the time. I just keep a stash of all of them in my diaper bag at all times.

At home, I use wipe off bibs like
these. Never, ever will I use a regular cloth bib again!

As an alternative to expensive disposable sippy cups, I went to my local fancy coffee shop and asked them to sell me some of their cups, with those lovely "adult sippy cup" lids. They sold me about 10 of them for $3. (It's important to get the cups and the lids, rather than just the lids, so that they will fit properly.)

I do this ALL the time in airports, as planes cannot be counted on to have cup lids on board, and DS isn't up to not spilling during turbulence, though he has given up sippies as a general thing.
(He also thinks it's really cool that adults give him envious looks as he sips his "Starbucks" on the plane. ):teeth:

disposable bibs are great, but even better are wipe clean plastic coated bibs - we have a couple and you can just give them a wipe with a baby wipe while you are out, and give them a better wash with soap when you get back to the room

Thats a great idea. Someone-I think its Dixie-makes them available in grocery stores. I don't know how much they are. I'll check the next time I'm there as I really love that idea and my kids hated the disposable sippys (but those can be cleaned...).

I've always wiped the table down with the antiseptic hand gel they sell at Bath and Body Works and napkins. I could never bring myself to let them eat off the table, but now that I think about it, I occasionally put the food on a restaurant high chair tray. Yuck!:crazy2: But I love the antiseptic hand gel. I discovered it when I realized that I could not wash my hands in the bathroom after changing DD's diaper and hold dd. Baby, diaper bag, crud....

Just to be clear, I never used disposable sippies if I was in any kind of position to be able to wash them; well, that is, when DS still used them as a regular thing. The no-spill kind were certainly preferable, and I used to fill them w/ ice and use them as icepacks in an insulated bottle bag. I only used coffeehouse cups when washing just was not feasible at all, but it was a useful trick.

I washed sippies all over WDW when DS still used them; I carried around a small travel toothbrush that had the space for toothpaste in the handle, and I used that to clean the valves and remove the milk scum. I also carried a little vial of dish soap, and would take the valve and drop it into the cup, add soap and hot water, then put the lid back on and shake it. After a rinse it was usually plenty clean at that point. The other thing I always carried around in those days was a couple of flat cloth diapers in a ziploc; lots of uses, but also great for drying out wet sippy cups.

I also used heavier wipe-clean bibs; DS just tore off the cheap kind. They were hard to find where I live, so I made a whole bunch of them by buying a yard of slipcover upholstery vinyl, then cutting them to size and sticking on velcro dots at the neck. I made them long enough to cover his lap, too.

DD uses the "take and toss" sippy cups. She also complained in the past that they "didn't work" - meaning she wasn't able to get anything to come out. I just inserted one prong of a metal pointed corncob holder (the ones that look like a small ear of corn) and problem solved. Of course, they are now more likely to drip but still less that other cups. We use them even at home and run them through the dishwasher. I've tossed a few lids that weren't sealing well but otherwise they work great (not with pulpy OJ, though).

We used the disposable bibs a few times and they worked well as a one use item. I also carry the antiseptic hand lotion as well as a travel pack of "bleach wipes". The former mostly gets used if we are somewhere that doesn't have running water bathrooms (mostly parks out in the boonies) but the latter are great for wiping all kids of things, such as table tops, highchair trays, shopping cart handles (why do infants find those so attractive as chew toys?). I also try to carry some packages of hand wipes like you can get with take out ribs or chicken. These are great for quick face and hand clean-ups before pictures with a character.

One other thing I found to be very handy - snack-sized ziploc style bags. DD wouldn't/couldn't always eat all of a snack I'd get for her so I'd put the rest in a baggy (assuming it would keep in the heat) and she'd be able to eat it later when she was ready for more. This was much neater than just turning down the top of the snack's bag. I'd also sometimes put in crackers she hadn't eaten but had opened at a restaurant.

What do you guys do when your teething munchkin only wants to eat the edge of the table?
I'm not sure how to best clean it so that if he does put his mouth on it, I'm not concerned with his health for the rest of the day!
