Both parks in one day....$479 for 2 people...worth it?

We are going to the west coast of Florida this week. I am tinkering with the idea of surprising my 10 year old, who is a big HP fan, with a one day trip over to Universal. We would have to get park to park tickets with unlimited express to be able to ride a lot of rides. We would also take advantage of the single rider lines. When I price it out, it will be $479 for just our tickets. Will it be worth the money? TIA

That's the same amount I pay yearly for my two annual passes. And it's less if you don't pay monthly.

If the money doesn't matter to you, why not do it? If $500 is a lot for you, why not consider skipping the express pass? It's not good for the most popular Harry Potter stuff anyway. You will have a lot of fun and Universal is a great value in general. Is one day of having a lot of fun worth $500 to you in this situation is what you have to determine.
