What is the advantage/benefit to having it in both names...no paperwork if one owner dies? Or something else?

It means either one of you can sell the car without both of you having to sign anything. Of course, some people might consider that a drawback - I knew a woman whose husband sold her beloved classic sportscar out from under her. And yes, in case of death, nothing needs to be done or filed.

Here you have to have both signatures in order to sell. Does not matter if there is an "and" or an "or". You need all signatures according to MO rules. We just ran into that.

Nope. We just called because we were trying to buy a car and the DMV said all parties must sign that are on the title.

We title our vehicles in both names. We also move fairly often for DH's job. If a vehicle is in only one name, that person has to do all the DMV stuff. also when my step-grandpa died his car was only in his name and I remember grandma having a hassle getting it switched over when he died.
