Bot Flies at Disney?

Just drop a few packets of these in your pocket, backpack, or carry pouch... ready anytime.

No mess, no leaks, no over-spray and no bulky bottle or can to carry.

I live in the woods way up in Northern Ontario Canada. Our bugs are so bad they use these towels to blow their noses. :rotfl2:

Nothing works up here but Deet but at least I do not have to worry about Bot Flies or brain eating amoebas until I go on vacation to relax.

I knew what they were. If you look it up, they can be found anywhere it seems, even up north. Just pack lots and lots of bug spray ;).

You will find some big old biting yellow flies. Those leave a nasty bite that itches like crazy afterwards.

I grew up on a horse farm in Virginia. We had to scrape the eggs off the horses all the time.

I never had a one, and spent all my days around the horses., and never used bug spray.

My boyfriend and I go to Disney World 4-5 times a year. I'm way more concerned about wearing sunscreen than bug spray.

The Disney parks are remarkably bug-free (except for love-bug season and I don't think a nuclear attack would stop them). I'm sure if anyone had been infected with bot flies at Disney - it would be all over the news. So just put it out of your mind and concentrate on having a good time.

P.S. Don't forget the sunscreen!

:confused3

I live in North Carolina and own a large horse farm. Bot flies are a HUGE concern for us. We spend many hours scraping the eggs off the horses legs and deworming the horses for them.

Yup, we have to do that up here in the NW, too.

There are a lot of different species of botflies and they attach themselves to different animals.

Botflies that attach to horses do not attach to humans. Only one species of botfly will attach to humans, and it is native only to South and Central America.

Not at all. Just trying to encourage you not to worry about very minor risks. It's easy to drive yourself nuts over these things.

Well u r right don't sweat small stuff. Sometimes I go to Budjet*heck i can't even spell it just to see how tiny a thing just drives these folks up a wall.:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Disney is surprisingly bug free (outside of those lovely love bugs). On the KTTW tour they briefly touched on the ways Disney keeps the bugs away.

And yet, I've still managed to wind up in first aid from a bug bite :sad1: They can find me anywhere... The nurse didn't venture a guess to what it was. It left a large, hot, itchy bump about the size of a half dollar.

The guard on duty tried to convince me I was bitten by one of the dwarves - probably Grumpy. :lmao:

I think I'm going to NOT look up the bot flies...:rolleyes1
