A few weeks ago I posted that we'll be coming into BOS the Friday of Labor Day weekend (Sept 4th) arriving around 1:30 pm. I just found out we are staying in Devens, MA and Google maps is giving me 3 different routes. I was hoping you could give me an idea of the best route given the timing of our arrival.

I-93N
MA-2W
I-90W

They are all mapping about the same time (just over an hour). Is any route better than the others?

Thanks again for your help!!

Have you tried asking the hotel you are staying? There really isn't a direct route which is why you are getting lots of options.

My best guess is to take the Ted Williams tunnel to the Mass Pike. Take the Mass Pike to 128 North. Take 128 North to Route 2 which should take you out to where you need to be.

BTW,what is in Devens that is worth visiting? I hope you aren't staying way out there to visit Boston.

All of those routes would eventually get you to Route 2.
Assuming that you're not familiar with the area, I think I'd opt for the Mass Pike (I-90) route. That may not be the absolute shortest route but probably the easiest to follow.
You can get to I-90 directly from the airport (look for the signs for the Ted Williams Tunnel and I-90). You'd go west on I-90 to the intersection with I-495 (roughly 30 miles). Take I-495 north to the Route 2 exit (maybe twenty miles). Just follow Route 2 west - the Devens base is less than 10 miles away. With a holiday weekend you'll probably have a wait at the toll booths as you're leaving Boston and another wait as the traffic tends to clog at the I-90/I-495 interchange. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this trip takes longer than the time that Google Maps gave you.

I would agree. Since you are not familiar with the area, this will be the easiest to follow. Just plan a little extra time for traffic. You never know in the Boston area!

Given the reported clog at the Mass Pike (I-90) I-495 interchange and the long jog north on I-495 beltway from the I-90 spoke to the Route 2 spoke -- I suggest the Rte 128 route for those who jump for the alternate route as soon as the traffic 'copter reporter suggests one.

Leaving Boston, get off the Mass Pike at the Weston/30/128/I-95 interchange. After the toll booths you'll be taking a right at the top of the ramp, a right at a light onto Rte.30 east, then the second light thereafter (about 1/4 mile) is 128/I-95 north. After you get on Rte. 2, there is one intersection where Rte. 2 goes to the left and a skinny road is straight ahead.

On the way back there is a direct ramp from 128/I-95 to the Pike.

LOL - we're in a soccer tournament out there :)

Thanks for the input!!!

Soccer, soccer, soccer. We actually just found out that DS's team will likely be at this tourney as well. Mini Dis meet on the side of the pitch? ;)

I agree that since you're not familiar with the area, the Mass Pike would probably be the best option.

I'm going to PM you to keep this thread mostly on topic, and find out if we might cross paths.
