What happens if you borrow points from next year and then don't need them?
Can you use those points and then bank excess points from current year?
I want to make resservations that would require borrowing 10 points. However I may have to change this reservation. The alternate plan would use less points if i change do i lose out?

You may borrow up to 100% of your allotted Vacation Points from the next Use Year into your current Use Year.
Borrowing Vacation Points can only occur at the time of confirming a reservation. Only the number of Vacation Points needed to make the reservation can be borrowed.
Once borrowed, Vacation Points cannot be returned to their original Use Year and will expire if not used by the end of the current Use Year.
Borrowed Vacation Points cannot be transferred to another Member.
Borrowed Vacation Points cannot be banked.
Borrowed Vacation Points may be applied to all exchange program reservations, including other Disney Vacation Club Resorts, The Disney Collection, World Passport Collection, Concierge Collection, and Adventurer Collection.

Yes. This is a solution to the problem of having too many points if you need to cancel a reservation. You can always bank current points as long as you are within the guidelines for your Use Year.

And remember, once borrowed points are confirmed for a reservation, they are borrowed.

What happened to me was for a 7 day trip, I needed to borrow for the last day. I ended up canceling the first day, therefore, current year points became available. They wouldn't let me switch these out with the borrowed points (as they were following the rules). So, I banked the points that became available so that I wouldn't lose them.

All in all, I now have 17 points next year that I have to use, and 110 points next year that I can still bank.

Sometimes it is confusing to say the least!!!
