Granny, thanks!
but, I don't have any 2005 points left

which is why I need to borrow from the 2006 year. So can I still borrow 2006? and if I cancel, they go into the 2004 use year which must be used up before Dec. 2005? What if the reservation is next Spring 2006 and it cancels? it stays in my 2005 use year?
Sorry to be so dumb!
Macnjac87 - looks like maybe you either don't quite understand use year or your terminology is confusing us. Use year is not the same as calendar year and it's especially easy to get confused when talking about a December use year.
If you have a December use year:
2004 use year points are good for stays between 12/1/2004 and 11/20/2005.
2005 use year points are good for stays between 12/1/2005 and 11/20/2006.
2006 use year points are good for stays between 12/1/2006 and 11/20/2007.
2007 use year points are good for stays between 12/1/2007 and 11/20/2008.
If you want to take a vacataion in Spring 2006, you need to use points from your 2005 use year. For that stay, your 2005 points are considered current use year, because your vacation dates fall within the 2005 use year.
For a stay that falls within your 2005 use year, you could use current year points, banked points (from your 2004 use year) or you could borrow points from your 2006 use year.
If you have no banked points and no 2005 use year points left, yes, you would have to borrow from 2006 to make the reservation.
If you then cancelled the reservation, the points go back into your 2005 use year. That means if you do not use them by the end of your 2005 use year (which is 11/20/2006), they expire. You cannot banke borrowed points and you cannot return them to your original use year.
HTH.
Best wishes -
