Do reservations automatically use borrowed points first?

For example, if I need to borrow some points to secure a reservation but then a separate waitlist comes through that puts points back in my account, I am able to bank those points back into next year as long as they are within the banking window, correct?

Yes, when you modify a reservation, including via waitlist, they will use restricted points first and then free up least restricted.

So they will use the borrowed or banked or both and free up any current UY points.

Just make sure you have your waitlist expire 31 days out of your new room is fewer points.

Any modifications within 31 days will send the freed up points into holding status…which means not bankable, even if you are in the banking window.

Thank you for this post. I was about to ask the same question. I thought it was how Sandisw stated but wanted to be sure. I called ms but was when they were closed and never called back.
