Borrowing Question

Hello,
Have a question about when points become available to borrow. For some reason I have a hard time wrapping my brain around this banking and borrowing stuff! Thinking about booking a trip for Feb 2017. Currently have 141 points from 2016 (august use year). Would I be able to borrow only 2017 points for a Feb trip or could I use 2018 as well since the trip is in 2017.

Since February 2017 actually falls during your 2016 UY (aug 1, 2016-July 31, 2017) you can use the 2016 UY points and 2017 UY points but not 2018 (that would be borrowing from 2 UY in advance).

With UY, think of a calendar that starts on Aug 1 and goes through July 31. That's your year. Forget about the year number because your UY falls over two year numbers.
