borrowing question

I've got a Feb use year - all 07 points are used, and all but one 08 trips are booked - so I still have 98 points in the 08 year. I borrowed twelve points to do a last minute 2-night HHI trip in January - and MS took the points from my 09 year.

It's not a big deal either way since it's only 12 points - but is this normal? Why not take them from 08?

Check to verify that is what actually occurred and then call and tell MS, politely, that it needs to get its head out its (whoops I'll stop) and use your Feb 08 points as borrowed points for a Jan 08 trip and should correct the transaction and put those points back into your Feb 09 account. It is not proper at all to use Feb 09 points for that Jan 08 trip.

Are you talking about a trip in January 08? Since that is still in your Feb 07 use year, I don't think they could borrow Feb 09 points for the reservation. You can only borrow one use year ahead.

Now, if your Feb 07 points are used up, they could have borrowed Feb 08 points for a January 08 reservation.

Yup - its a January 08 trip. I don't have 07 points - but I have Feb 08 use year points - and they borrowed the 12 from Feb 09. Weird. I'll call and ask what's going on tomorrow. I thought maybe there was some weird borrowing black hole I did not know about.
