I know this has been answered before but I'm having memory block.:confused3

My UY is March. I have a trip planned for Jan. 2010 using most of this years points. I'm thinking a booking a trip for May of this year. If I borrow points from my 2010 UY and for some reason have to cancel, would the points be returned to my 2010 UY or do they go into holding? I know if I cancel 30 days or less they go into holding, but if it's earlier than that what happens to them?

Terri

Borrowing is a final transaction so once you borrow points from your 2010 UY into your 2009 UY to make the May '09 reservation, those points cannot be put back into your 2010 UY. If you cancel at least 31 days from check in, the points are refunded to your 2009 UY. You will have until the end of Feb 2010 to use them or lose them.

If you book a May trip and then cancel....you can always use the points you borrowed to extend your January 2010 trip, even though they will be in your 2009 UY. :thumbsup2

The other option is to bank the 2009 points you will be using for your January 2010 trip, and then use your "borrowed" 2010 points to cover that trip.

In effect, you would end up with points back in your 2010 UY, they would just be your 2009 points.

If you had to cancel the tirp, you could just tell MS to use the 2010 points for the January trip and bank your 2009, since you would still be within your 2009 banking window.
