Borrowing Points for Waitlist Request

Hi,

I'm looking to add a day onto my December vacation. Doing so would require borrowing points from next use year.

I anticpate there will be no rooms available and that I will be put on the waitlist. My questions is, do they borrow the points at the time of waitlist request, or do they wait until the waitlist comes thru before borrowing?

To my knowledge (and I am in that same situation for the first time), points will be deducted only at the time that the waitlist comes through. If you have a standing reservation, but want to change resorts, the same applies. No points are charged or deducted until the waitlist comes through. When and if the waitlist comes through, you are not given a choice to accept or decline. It is automatically applied and any prior reservation for the waitlisted dates will be cancelled. Hope I stated that correctly.

You are correct. I called MS today and they confirmed that points will only be borrowed if/when the waitlist comes thru.
