Sorry if this is a repeat. I asked this on another thread, but I don't think I made myself clear because I did not understand the answer I got (then again, maybe I'm just REAL slow!) Please help if you can...
I had 154 points left in my use year.
I originally booked a trip in April at OKW for 75 points. (This is not really where I wanted to stay, so I got put on a wait list.)
I also booked a trip to BWV in August for 68 points. This means I would have 11 points to bank for the next UY.
However...
my 3rd choice of waitlists came through for the April trip at VWL. This costs more points than 75 - 20 more points in fact . . . for a total of 95. This means the points I had planned to bank now needed to be used. In addition, I had to borrow 9 more points from the next UY.
Here is the question:
Let's say for some reason I need to cancel the August trip . . .
Recall I needed to borrow 9 points for the April trip . . .
Scenario A
Use the 9 borrowed points for the April trip and bank all of my points originally allocated for the August trip? (I sure hope so, even though it doesn't seem like I really borrowed anything.)
Scenario B
If my 1st choice of April trips comes in, BWV Standard, then I really didn't need to borrow at all. Can I say I am and reallocate the other points to the August trip and bank what is left over?
Am I making sense at all? I had to make a split second decision with the CM on the phone . . . I borrowed without really thinking it through I think.
