Borrowing Help-Wanting to make sure I'm understanding correctly

We've never borrowed points before but are hoping to book Aulani and would need to call points forward in order to book a 2 bedroom for the week. I just want to make sure I"m reading/understanding correctly and that we'll have our 2024 points available to call forward.

We have a December use year and are wanting to go this December. We get our 2023 points on 12/1. Can I book at our 7 month window (May) using our 2023 points and calling forward some of our 2024 points?

Yes. Its all based on when the trip happens and not when you book.

So, a Dec 2023 trip is in your Dec 2023 UY...which means you can book it with banked 2022 UY points (if you had them), 2023 UY points, and borrow 2024 UY points to complete the reservation.

Just remember, that once borrowed, those 2024 UY points are in your 2023 UY and will expire end of November 2024 if you had to cancel or change the trip!

The thought to remember in determining what points you can use and whether you need to bank or can borrow for a reservation:

Wipe from your mind the date when you will make the reservation and look only to the time you will be at a Disney DVC resort. With a Dec use year and a trip in Dec 2023, and no matter when you attempt to reserve the trip, the "current" use year points for that trip will be those from the Dec 2023 use year, you can also use Dec 2022 points if you bank them into the Dec 2023 use year by July 31, 2023, and at the time of making the reservation you can borrow points from the Dec 2024 use year if needed.
