borrowing from '10 UY

Hi all!
I am still relatively new to DVC having just joined in last year. I have a question about borrowing points. All of my '09 points have been allocated for future vacations but I want to add days to an existing reservation for next week. In order to do this I would need to borrow points from '10 UY but I don't think I am allowed to since my UY begins in Sept. Can anyone confirm? I tried MS but they are closed today for Memorial Day.

Using points for a vacation is all about the time frame of the trip itself. In your case, as long as you are within the 11 month booking time (if home resort) and the reservation would be in your 2009 UY then you are allowed to borrow the 2010 points to add more days.

Thanks for the quick response. I am actually not staying at my home resort. So I guess I won't be able to borrow from 2010 UY...did I get that right? I am within 4 months of 2009 UY but all of those points are allocated. So basically in order to borrow from 2010 I need to be using those points "after" Sept '09 UY right?

You can borrow points from your 2010 use year for a trip that occurs within your 2009 use year. It doesn't matter if you are staying at a non-home resort or your home resort.

Of course, you do have to comply with the 7/11 month booking windows, but since the reservation you plan to add nights to is already made, that isn't going to be a problem.

Go ahead and call MS tomorrow and the CM will borrow the points you need as long as there is availability for the nights you need.

You can borrow 010 points for any trips between 9/01/09 and 8/31/2010. So as long as the trip is after Sept. 1, you are good to go.

Ok this is what I thought but I wanted to get some expert advice! The trip I am trying to add to is within 08 UY so I guess I will be searching the internet for discount codes to use instead.

With all of your 2009 points used, it sounds like you'll be traveling to WDW several days next year. Do you have an Annual Pass? If so, I'd be looking for an AP Room discount for your 08 use year trip.
