I know all you pros out there can help me...we are leaving for WDW in 26 days(who's counting? :)) A friend has offered to let us use their Pal Mickey, but I am clueless on how to use it. Can someone explain this to me in simple terms? Will it just drive us crazy and be another thing to carry around or will we be glad we have it? If it helps, it is me, DH, DD(8), DD(6), and DS(4). Thanks in advance!

We got one a couple of years ago. It was a novelty for us - kinda neat, but not really all that useful if you are paying attention to the times guide anyway.

That said, your kids are older than mine, and they might love all the little tidbits. For us, it's enough to just walk around the parks without another sensory overload vehicle. Depending on how many days you spend in the parks, you may want to bring it the first day and then find that you want to leave it behind upon a repeat trip.

On another note - we had ours stolen from our stroller while reviewing photos in the Exhibition Center for purchase (before PhotoPass). They were pretty new at the time, so maybe they were in high demand. I saw 2 teenage girls walking quickly away from our stroller and looking back at us as they were moving. I wasn't about to chase after them and make a scene.

A quick trip across the street to town hall to explain what happened and we received a free coupon for a new Pal Mickey. Headed over to the store and picked a new one up - about a 10 min delay in our day. Gotta love Disney for making things right!

That was on my 2nd trip as an adult and father. We've been back about 2x a year since, and I have to admit that Disney's immediate response to this situation went a long way to making me a believer in the magic......

1) Put in a fresh set of 3 "AA" ALKALINE batteries.

2) Turn his switch to "ON".

3) Carry him (in the open, not inside a bag) into any of the theme-parks.

4) When he "Giggles and Wiggles" (vibrates) gently squeeze his tummy or his hand and he will tell you park, ride, parade, and character info... or just tell a corny joke*.

That's all there is to using him in the parks!

He WILL play a couple of "games" inside or outside the parks (or even at home), but you'll need more info as to how to do that.

We just use him in the parks, and have every trip for several years.

Why don't you just ask your friend?
Good question...I didn't include that in my original post. She cannot find the directions that were included with Pal Mickey when they bought it. Also, she said it took them a while to get the hang of using him in the parks. So I thought I would ask the DISers, who seem to know everything!! Thanks.
