We have an August UY. We just went into our 2018 points. We have 15 points left in 2018 since we used a majority of our points for a Dec/Jan trip (17'/18')
We want to take a trip for my sons bday in August 19'. His bday is on the 1st.

Is it a problem booking on for a trip starting on 8/1/19????
Is it a problem booking for a trip that would begin the end of July 19' and going into Aug 19'?
If we needed to bank from 2020 could we do that? If needed?

Thought I read somewhere that this could be a problem....
Too many numbers and dates screw me up. That is why I went to law school!

Thank you so much for your help.

Not at all. But you'll need to wait until September 1, 2018 to book at your home resort, or February 1, 2019 for a non-home resort.

Not at all. But it sounds like you'll be borrowing from your 2019 UY for the July portion of your July 2019 trip (which actually falls under your 2018 UY).

You could borrow from your 2020 UY to fund the August portion of your trip, but you would need enough points between your 2018 UY and 2019 UY (borrowed) to pay for your July portion of the trip.

There has been a problem when booking a trip that crosses over your UY. So you trip that starts in July and ends in Aug, across the UY, could be a problem if booking on line. I believe you can call MS. I haven't tried a booking like this lately, so not sure if it is still a problem.

We have an August UY

August 2018 UY is August 2018 to July 31 2019.

August 2019 IY is August 2019 to July 31 2020.

No, but you’d need to bank 2018 points to 2019 to do this with the points from 2018.

And you’d book it at 11 months out for home resort.

July 2019 would fall in your 2018 UY.
I’m not sure how that works, actually, to book over UYs.

To book a trip that spans use years, you may need to call Member Services. I don't think the website is smart enough to handle that. It would be best to go ahead and make the reservation online for the July portion, and then call Member Services when they open to add the August portion.

OP, get together a spreadsheet that you understand. Lay out your points for at least 3 years. Include dates for banking, when you borrow points from one UY to the previous, trips in the planning stage, and those already booked.

Thank you all...I remembered that online could be tricky when booking a trip spread over two use years.
I like the point about booking July online and calling and adding August.
Thanks so much
